One of my favorite contemporary quotes I believe it was the Hudson Bay man McKenzie in a Cree lodge describing the goings on. He said something like "watching this Cree woman cook a pot of supper and taking care of her papoose who stumbled around the cooking area naked and shot a stream of excrement from his hind end, to which his mother very carefully picked him up and scraped his bottom clean with her butcher knife, wiped it on her buckskin skirt, and proceeded to stir the contents of her cook pot with same knife!"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Lol! 😆😆😆

MI has some troubling laws regarding the concealed carry or vehicle transport of fixed blade knives. It looks like they apply mainly to double edged knives. Several cities have more restrictive knife laws. Seems clear as mud. The situation looks ripe for selective enforcement.
An aside: Do you guys really carry those large knives? Are they uncomfortable? Full disclosure: my edc knife is a 2-3 inch folder that gets used often, but most commonly to open packages. I don't carry a big knife on me every day, but I often do, if I'm hunting, fishing or working on my property. I always have one handy in my truck. The knives I posted earlier are a couple my brother and I sold to people that fully plan to use them. We have sold a good many over the years, so I guess a "Stabby cutty" knife is a popular thing to have handy. I have carried this 6" pilots survival knife from Camillus off and on for 30 years. It is handy and fairly easy to sharpen and while I don't field dress much game with it, it has done the job in the past. I do know that it will go all the way to the bottom of a jar of peanut butter. The saw teeth aren't very useful to me, but the knife was made for a different purpose than I use it. Lately, I have switched off to this 6" hunter that I have pretty much within reach every day. I like the size and I guess a fair comparison would be to a 6" K-bar. I just wanted one that had a little better steel and a stag handle. I also wanted one that had a more "sporting" look but retained the "Stabby, Cutty" functionality of a large knife. It does this very well.

Always thought the Cold Steel Ti Lite was a cool looking stably kinda blade. Grande size too, for Jim. https://www.coldsteel.com/ti-lite-6-aluminum-s35vn/

When I boil everything down, aside from some great pocket knives, I was gifted a Cutco hunting knife about 20 years ago by a friend. At first I thought it would be like the Buck hunting knives, and wasn't really impressed. Then I used it. Field dressed and cut up 2 elk with it, and it would still shave the hair off your arm. I started to have more respect for it. I also found that I could easily put razor sharp edge on it. It holds the edge better than any knife I have ever known. Now, after 20 years, it's still my go-to field dressing, skinning and processing knife. Who knew?.... Now I do. https://www.cutco.com/products/product.jsp?item=hunting-knife

So....what would make a good stabby cutty slashy knife be?
Got to thinking the other day....my Old Timers and Leathermans wouldn't be much good in a real stabby type situation.
Guess I am worried about my hand slipping forward.
Anyone recommend a good stabby slashy knife? A bit late to the discussion, but this is my stabby cutty slashy mohelish standby. It's not the sharpest knife in the shed but what it lacks in sharpness it makes up for in glorious, hard, black length. It's an old Cold Steel Recon Tanto (made in USA version) that I've never really taken care of. I tend to ignore it since it's not really useful for much of anything that I need a knife for.
Eliminate qualified immunity and you'll eliminate cops who act like they are above the law.
