Well, i have nothing to add since my old buddy Bill Bagwell up and died on us, a man could always look for a used one i guess, he made a few 4 and 5 inch skinning knives, a man with an open Case Lockhorn in each fist could sure as hell keep folk off himself in an unruly crowd.

Found the LMF
Evidently the guy that owned it used a cement block attempting to sharpen it.
Loaned it to a friends son in law to field dress a little buck, he's a big fellow and he just rips the breast bone open. Didn't think anything about it other than, dayum that boy is strong!
After getting home I'm washing it up and see a couple tiny chips out of the edge. Not sure if they were there before the breast splitting episode or not.
Thats when I get out the Lansky and see that the deceased owner had used his cement block to lay back the edge to 15-16 degrees. I got it back to about 20 primary with 25 edge.
Split a chicken or 3 the last camping/drinking/hunting trip. Not much of a test I guess.
I need to give it to my nephew. He might actually use it.

I'm no knife guy, wouldn't know how to use one if I had to. But in in 1971 I saw a guy laying outside the Elbow Room in Dutch Harbor with his guts in the gravel, State Trooper said it was one slice with a filet knife by a Filipino about 5 feet tall. So maybe it's more about sharp than the pattern or style.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Them two will be winners when I bit the dust.

Edit to add

They are already winning as I've been keeping them in bullets lately.

That's why a zero grind edge bevel is so good on a dedicated fighting knife. Easy to keep them razor sharp.

Didn't Jim Bowie do that in the Sand bar duel. He grabbed the Doctors sword cane pulled him in and gutted him with his large knife.

Zero grind used to be very popular. But it requires more work to create, so lost popularity because knife makers wanted to put a quick edge grind on to get their product to market.

When I am asked for advice regarding a 'Stabby Cutty Knife' ~ I find myself 'Flabbergasted'.

Otherwise:

For a “cheap” knife, The Cold Steel Roach Belly is hard to beat!
One of the sharpest “cheap” knifes I’ve ever bought.
Works great as a kitchen knife or hunting knife. And you wouldn’t shed a tear if you lost one.

I just finished sticking some curly ash scales on this cheap Indian made 18th century folder. Never done ot before and I wanted to see if I could do it ! I bought it at an event simply to use as a display example. Had black horn scales on it and it didn’t take long for the bugs to complete eat them off!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Actually steel isn’t all that bad for a cheapy. Handy around the camp.

They're still popular in other countries from what I gather. Widely known as a "scandi grind". I have a few myself from Mora and Martiini and they're overrated for most uses as far as I'm concerned. Edges easily chipped or bent/folded and don't slice meat/hide any better than a thin hollow ground or flat ground blade with shallow secondary edge bevel.

If you want a Stabby Cutty knife that will disappear in your front pocket, this one will. The S30V blade is only 3.75 inches long. We made the first one at the request of a Law enforcement officer that wanted to be able to hit a tire with it and leave a huge hole. I've done it and the first thing you feel is the edge of your hand hitting the tire. Amazing how this cuts. The sheath is clipped inside the pocket and the handle is grabbed and pulled to deploy the knife, leaving the sheath in the pocket.

I think this is the model that was on our web site that gave Facebook the shivers a few years ago and prevented us from advertising on their site. cool
