Wow, looks New! Nice grab! Thanks. I know. You have to wonder what conditions it has scene in the nearly 60 years since it left the factory to be still in such nice shape. Could be it's owner just shot it a few times, and kept it clean and lubed. It certainly doesn't appear to have been in a holster much, if at all. It has just the faintest line in the cylinder that you have to look very close to see. Maybe the same guy owned it since he was 20, and just recently passed away, so his wife or kids put it up for sale.

TRH’s photo of his Colt Official Police inspired me to figure out how to post photos on this site. Here is my 1955 6” Heavy Barrel Colt Official Police.

Should I shoot this gun? My inclination is yes.

TRH, you are correct, the barrel doesn’t step down, a quarter inch from the frame. If you look closely you can also see that the bottom of the barrel is dished out for the ejector rod. Check out the photo I put in the image gallery, the resolution on it is better.

Should I shoot this gun? My inclination is yes. I would, it is very clean but not unfired condition, moderate shooting won’t hurt anything. Guns were made to be shot.

ar15, here's a better picture of your gun. You still have much to learn about posting pictures, Padawan.

That's a gorgeous specimen, by the way. You can really tell with the larger format image. I like the Tyler T Grip Adapter.

When I purchased the revolver it came with imitation stag plastic grips. I purchased the Colt grips that you see in the picture but the correct grips should have silver medallions and not gold ones. I then bought a Tyler T grip for it. I debated between a sliver or gloss black T grip, I think I made the right choice there but sometimes I second guess myself. I also need to get an appropriate holster for it. If you have any suggestions I would like to hear them.

Black adapter, of course, is the right choice. El Paso Saddlery makes some nice traditional holsters. How about this one? LinkThe one on the right.

You can go deeper down the rabbit hole ($$) with floral.

The thumbreak is too new age for that revolver. It needs a Threepersons or a Border holster.
