Just curious. I’m shooting my bow a lot more & find myself daydreaming more often. What day you?

Well I’d say loading and working up new loads but it’s mostly been thinking about those more than doing. Bout to go into the “it’s too damn hot” phase of the year and then put off all the things I meant to do last month and the spring before that until after the season. I did join an indoor range 5 minutes from my new office so I intend to get more trigger time than most summers this year.

Right now just thinking about hunting and trying to get the house sold and moved before hunting season.

I am still waiting for the draw in Washington and Oregon. Did not draw in Wyoming (for the first time ever), but will be looking hard at the 2 nd chance elk draw offerings. There may be something there that will interest me. Did shoot a nice group a couple of days ago from prone at 635 yards. Had two touching and one just shy of 8 inches out. My range card and my real life impacts, did not match, so that will require some work.

Good luck on the Washington draw. That has been a fiasco for me the past 13 years except for 1 spring bear hunt. The “bonus point” system is just a money scam for WDFW with point creep. I think I have 17 points for bull elk as do 90%+ of the elk hunters here. Bah humbug!

As a younger man - I'd get downright giddy about Oct 1 bow opener. But then spend 3 weeks not having much fun - few deer, warm temps etc. Halloween was always when it got fun for us too. Month of November is the best month on the calendar.

Still trying to get a good, fast, accurate load with my homegrown, 400 grain cast bullets in my 460 Smith. Then, hopefully use it on antelope, deer, elk! memtb

Same things I'm always working on:
1. Physical training: recovering from hip resurfacing. 12 weeks since surgery. Squats, deadlifts, overhead squats, front squats with light weight only right now, tons or rehab exercises and elliptical time. At 6 months can start adding real weight. Looking forward to putting it to use during hunting season. 2. Shooting
A new focus this year:
3. Streamlining my pack/gear to be more mobile with saddle hunting in hard to get to areas

Not much now, working all the OT I can. I need to load some rifle shells, put on a couple of scopes, sight in. I’ll start shooting my bow September 1

I have a new Boyd's Heritage stock for a TC Compass in 7mm-08. It arrived yesterday. I got this one in standard grade Walnut. I think I got my money's worth.
I have everything ready for a load of 150 rounds of 30-06 -- 50 rounds each for #2 and #3 son and myself.
