I will add that over the years Remington has made some nice .22 LR rifles designed for adults. When they haven't sold well, they are discontinued. I have watched a lot of folks not buy due to price, and then pay more in the used or collector market to get the gun they could have bought for less. (Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and the ball cap).

Past isn't prologue, but don't say I didn't warn you.

I don't see where $1000 for a rifle of that quality is out of line. If it was a centerfire rifle with a Shilen tube, nobody would complain.
