I grabbed a local shopper/trader paper the other day and saw a ridiculous listing: "Fresh" IMR 4831 for 95 bucks a pound; CCI LR Magnums for $19 a hundred. Call 406 bla-blah.
Other listings were in the 45 bucks a pound range, which is stiff, but not THAT stiff.
So, what kind of scalper offerings are you seeing in YOUR local shopper?

I have seen various powders for $100 a pound, primers for $150 per thousand. This was in local ads and other online ads.

Haven't seen any real scalping locally, and I check 4 shops regularly. Have even found some stuff, for what might be called mildly inflated prices.
A good example was the two 1-pound canisters I found about 6 weeks ago, priced at $38/pound. The store limited all powder purchases to 2 canisters, so I bought 'em both.
A few days later found an 8-pounder of H4350 at another one of the stores, for $289. Again, not exactly cheap but not scalping. Bought it too, and a couple days later ran into an acquaintance who said he REALLY needed some H4350, and did I know where any could be found. I sold him the pair of 1-pounders for what I paid for them.
Did go to the local gun show (which was cancelled last year) after all that, and saw plenty of scalper-type prices. But didn't see many people buying.

LGS has primers, $150.00 per 1000.
If they told me the money was going to help fight some kid's cancer or help a family that suffered a house fire I might consider, but otherwise no can do.

Whitetail,
Actually, it was a MUCH bigger show than any recent years, with far more tables and stuff.
But some of the stuff was the same old collection of Winchesters and Savage 99s that the same guys have been trying to peddle for years....

Added two lbs of Tac to the powder inventory last Friday. I paid $40 per for it, more than I wanted to, but not out of line. A couple of weeks ago I paid $34 lb. for Tac at a different store. But I've gone from one pound to five in a couple of weeks.
John, Has the purchase of Ramshot/Accurate powder by Hodgdon improved the distribution of those powder brands. I'm already seeing more of them available than I've seen in the past.

VernAK,
I also doubt the new price level with go away anytime soon, because the price of powder is connected to the price of oil. Which is rising with demand, since more people are driving and flying as the covid panic and restrictions ease.

Im glad I don't NEED anything from the "look" of the market. Back in the early Trump days I started on a buying binge. I bought all the IMR 7828, Big Game, Varget, H-414, RL-22, and thousands of primers that I will probably need for the rest of my life. Also laid back several thousand bullets. 284 cal 150 gr NBT's, 154 gr SST's and 140 gr Sierra GK's.

Went to a local outfit. The owner said he would let me buy one pound of H4350. Price, $55 + sales tax.

We have a local dealer here that we've supported for 60 years. Somehow he got lots of Federal and CCI primers. All at $99 a 1000.
H4350 was $99 per lb. other powders $65-90. And it sits there. Not going anywhere.
Hope he chokes on it.

Saturday I had a friend visit a shop while I was working. He called me and said they have a 1-pound can of H4831sc for $40 and did I want it? I said "absolutely". The store owner said he doubted that powder in general would ever get any cheaper and go back to the pricing before Covid. I bet he's right. Also heard a rumor that there were several companies that were planning on building a plant to make primers. It's only a rumor but maybe it'll happen. I hope so.

A few days ago I picked up a pound of TiteGroup and a pound of HS-6 in CDA for less than $30/pound. They had more. They also had a lot of Accurate stuff which seems to be rather common in my part of Texas as well.

There was an on-line auction in TX. that was posted on a thread here on the 'Fire that sold a 4lb canister of Red Dot and a 1lb can said to be 1/3 full for $6 plus $1.20 buyers premium 2 or 3 days ago. Bargain for anyone that lived nearby. Deals are out there you just have to look for them.

I stopped by a local Ace Hardware on the way home from the range last week. They had Federal Small Pistol Magnum Match primers (no others) for $50 a brick, so I got one, since I've been looking to start some work with my .357s. I'm fat on rifle primers but a little short on pistol. They also had a shelf full of RL-23 for $35/pound with no limit. I called my buddy and asked if he needed any and he did, so 5 pounds went in my cart. Got to the checkout and my military discount took off another 10%. No shipping, no HAZMAT. They probably could have charged more for those but they didn't. Things are looking up... That Ace is a good outfit, and I'll keep using them when they get stuff in stock. I drop by on the way home from the range every time, just for a shelf check.
Cheers, Rex

Probably the biggest scalper I have seen this year is Lester Bruno (Brunos shooters supply), $50+ a pound and makes you buy huge quantities outrageous shipping costs etc.etc.!!!!!!!!!!!
