It’s the first one I will reach for myself unless I’m just trying to be different. In the 270 and 280, 26 is the speed king and usually very accurate.

Every gun and barrel is different for sure, but in the couple of 270's I have tried it in RL26 has gained 150-200fps over any other powder I have tried

I worked up a load for my .280, with RL26 and a Hornady 150 ELD-X, a fairly high-BC bullet. With 60.1 gr., I get MV of 3050 fps, and sub-MOA accuracy out of my rifle's 22" PacNor barrel. This puts the performance of a .280 into a higher category, and I daresay will rival a lot of 7mm Rem Mag loads downrange, with little fuss.

Yup, hard to go wrong with that one. I might even give that one a shot with my 760 270 Win.. It's only got Skinner's on top, so extreme accuracy wouldn't even be able to be judged, but like the others, I am sure it will be more than enough. Might run the 150 BT's in that one though.

My observation and experience is RL26 seems to be akin to the Barnes X Bullet—shoots plenty accurate in some rifles, not so much in other rifles.

Of my five 270’s, one of them flat won’t shoot it well—and it has a custom bbl to boot. One of my 243’s has ok accuracy with 100g NPt’s, but H4831 does better, albeit at slower velocity.

My first batch of RL26 produced velocities equal to what Alliant advertised, subsequent lots have ran 50-70 fps slower in my 270’s and 243’s. I have an 8# jug of another lot that I haven’t opened yet, I’m curious to see what it does.

As a added note, with the 160g NPt in the two 270’s I’ve tried, IMR 7977 handily beats out RL26 for accuracy AND velocity.

Having said that, MAGA.
