Friend of mine found Federal American 5.56 available at ammoavailability.com (https://ammoavailability.com/product/american-eagle-5-56mm-1000rounds/) for $374.96 delivered. He called and was told it was correct price and included delivery. Internet shows they have a storefront so all seemed legit and he ordered via credit card. Two days later he got a call from them and the price had changed to $500.96 (current price on the website). Needless to say he cancelled the order and let them know what he thought of their business practice. Not much available on the internet for reviews but in addition to credit cards they take PayPal, Zelle and bitcoin. Mightbe a honest mistake, might not but wanted to pass the experience along.

Our Academy Sports stores have kept FMJ in stock for the past month or so. About 12 bucks a box of 20.

I wouldn't have cancelled the order. I would have insisted on the delivery at the agreed price. Your laws may be different though.

I ordered some ammo from some internet company. I used Ammoseek to find it after I did I wished I hadn’t. I usually check reviews before buying from a unknown source but I was in a big hurry. Wasnt a huge dollar value but after I got a weird feeling I read the reviews and there was a ton of bad ones. A few day went by and I got a order confirmation then a ship notice about a day later. Ammo did show up about five days later. Really out of character for me to order from a company like that. Unlikely I will throw the dice again.

I handload too, he just hasn't gotten there yet. After his experience he ordered a book on handloading so I expect him to make the jump as stock shows up. Boarmaster...glad it worked out and hopefully as more shows up everyone will do some research before buying and these scams will come to an end. Not likely but hopefully.
