Mackay’s right, we have seen a long term, successful soft coup of our government. The heat was being turned up under the frog slowly for many years. Hillary was supposed to be another incremental step but Trump surprised them. That forced the Left’s hand to turn the heat up to max all at once. Speaking of us over 50 or even over 40, we probably won’t see another fair election in our lifetimes.

We have lived through a very rare period and have seen an abundance of prosperity spread over the majority of our citizens the likes of which no one else in history has ever known. A lot of liberty as well but to be honest, nothing like even our grandparents knew or their parents and so on back to the late 1700’s. But that’s another story.

Whatever the past was, we are here, right now, and need to realize that we aren’t the first ones in this situation, not by a long shot. Think of the Norwegians, French, Belgians, Dutch etc. in 1939 and 1940 and then the whole of Eastern Europe in 1945. Think of the South in April, 1865, Cambodia in 1975; history is filled with examples of people who have seen their worlds crumble.

Not downplaying what we’ve lost but the point is other human beings have been in a lot worse and more immediate situations before and while life was miserable, they survived. Some folks saw their world restored in a few years, for others it was decades. But the thing is, they lived to see things get better or at least their children did.

I don’t have any big solution for this, we’re fucked, plain and simple. And it will very likely get worse before it gets better. How it happened will be post mortemed ad infinitum but I don’t plan to dwell on the past or the negative. Now is the time to make plans and figure out how to move forward from where we are, even if we don’t see any fruits of our individual efforts in our lifetimes.

If nothing else, teach your kids – that’s how the Left got us, by getting to the kids. No matter what propaganda is spewed from the TV or in the classroom to fill their heads, keep the real knowledge alive.

In 8th grade I read a book of survival tips for all kinds of situations and the advice it started out with was something I’ve never forgotten. No matter how bad things are right now, remember that this too will pass.
