RONT:
The Chrony F1 arrived yesterday. I didn't know you could get a chronograph for under $60 bucks. It's a bare-bones device, but it records a string of 29 and give basic statistics-- that's all I need.
Thanks for making me think about it.

Shaman,
Favorite and most accurate load for my 308 is with 165 grain Nosler Ballistic Tips and 41.0 grains of IMR-3031. In three different .308 rifles of mine, this load has proven to be the best. And have tested a lot of different combinations. I believe I've taken about 5 deer with this load and it has been effective.
Good luck, BigBullet

My best loads come from using IMR 4064 and 165 gr Sierra Pro Hunters or Game kings.

So far I've been most impressed with the accuracy and velocity of AA-2520 w/ 150gr bullets. Getting 2950fps out of a 22" bbl...

Eremicus, Sometime back you were experimenting with the Barnes-x bullets in your .308. Did that pan out for you? Are you willing to share your recipe with me? Have you tried the triple shocks yet? Thanks for your time.

I have real good luck in the 308's (blr & 99) with 45.2 gr of 748 and hornady 165 bt. cci large rifle. The savage likes ww cases and will print a nice 3 shot cloverleaf with the next 2 opening the group to about 2 inches. She who must be obeyed's blr has taken 3 different 6pt bulls here that carcassed 440 lbs. the longest shot was about 250 yds. The bullets ended up just under the hide on the off side. So if you run out of the powders you have and are looking for something else to try might think about 748.
the most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to. www.historicshooting.com
