Step 1) Drive to the laundromat. Step 2) Stuff your whole week’s laundry into the big 12 quarter front loader washer, if twice as much stuff use the 20 quarter machine whichever set it on “hot”. Step 3) Pour four times the recommended amount of liquid detergent up top (more if using the 20 quarter model). Step 4) Add quarters, press “Start”, come back 23 minutes later. Step 5) Divide your wet laundry more of less equally (by volume not by fabric or garment type) between two front-loading driers. Step 6) Put four quarters in each, go away and come back in 30.
Works fer me.

We make our own laundry soap and use it in the front loader. It's good to know what goes on the clothes. A lot of allergies at night and breathing difficulties can be cleared up that way. Do you use a borax recipe?

I still have a wringer washer in my garage. I use it to wring out chamois when I wash vehicles. I hope it doesn't break down, I'm not sure I could find parts for it.

Remember Blueing? Light blue looks white? I sure do. I forget the chemical name, but used it for some fun experiments with my class. There were some good laundry boosters that most people today never heard about.....20 Mule Team, Borax comes to mind. We make our own laundry soap and use it in the front loader. It's good to know what goes on the clothes. A lot of allergies at night and breathing difficulties can be cleared up that way. Do you use a borax recipe? Yes….with a little TSP. I never heard of that for laundry, but it's used for deep cleaning for prep work by painters. I started using limonene for oil stains and poison ivy. It works so good for cutting grease and rinses clean. Thought I'd give it a try. Just have to be very careful with any clothes using bleach...... possible chlorine gas reaction.

Had an uncle that owned a couple of gas stations when I was a kid. Full service type. Good mechanic too. Seen him wash his jeans in naphtha to get the grease out. 😬

Fambly size LOL. I remember my Great Grandmother still having one of those when I was a kid. She also had one of those old time washing machines with the “wringer” mounted on the top.

I'll probably make a batch when I get close to running out of reserves. I have some old bar soap that I no longer use since switching to Dr Bronners castle soap through a foaming hand pump. I'm probably going to shred that and turn it into laundry soap along with your ingredients.

Fugg....now the city folk have fugged up washing your clothes.
Why does everything have to be so complicated to a city slicker? I'm with Jim . Although he'll hate me for using .................................. Costco unscented laundry soap. Big jug of it, shipped in on the brown truck, Little bit in the slot on the front loader, wash all my stuff on the "towel" setting, as I just pile everything of mine in together. Wife does her own clothes. Uses a bit too much soap sometimes, still see a few bubbles on the window when she's done. The towel setting gives an extra rinse cycle. Prefer the front loader as it spins clothes dryer than a top loader. And then they get hung on the fence to dry. And they dry quickly up here when it's near single digit humidity. Secret on the front loader to the "smell" issues? I put a rag in the top of the door to keep it cracked a bit so it dries out the drum.
