Yep, today. Buddy of mine moved to the villages in Florida and apparently they have one of the highest rates of venerable diseases in The country. Boomers be riding dirty.

Good one Mr. Malaprop!

Might be the funniest thing I've ever seen you post.

Over the years, I have read reams of stuff by the gunwriters. Many references to Venerable Cartridges, most common of course, the .30-06. So, I became fascinated, determined to find some for my cartridge collection. Hundreds of gunshows, yard sales, estate sales, classified ads, junk stores, pawn shops....nothing, nada, zip, zero...not a damn fired case, let alone a box. Lots of headstamps from Rem, Win, Federal but nary a Venerable. So they may have been manufactured at one time, but there ain't any around now.
By the way, I have heard 'venerable' used, I was watching a Charlie Chan movie and he was talking about his venerable grandfather.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

For this crowd I think "venereal" is more appropriate than "venerable".

My venerable mother in law's name was Irene. Wonderful, kind woman. When making breakfast she'd sing just like Curley Howard.

Her favorite song was the venerable Good Night Irene.

What, no votes for Dorcas?

Mildred is kinda common compared to Dorcas.

I’m thinking people who smoke pipes use that word no less than four times a day.

I remember Dean Venable.
I saw him give a paper on control loop stability analysis in WA DC in 1987.
Looks like his company is still around, but he isn't

So is Esther, no?

But I run into few of either.
