55.3 gr staBALL 6.5 Cci 250 212gr eld-x Avg FPS 2636 Oal 3.400 I think I’m using a hair more powder than 79S but virtually the same load. Lapua brass, CCI250’s and about the same OAL. My load Magnetospeed’ed a shade over 2700 from my rifle. I don’t mess with anything else in this rifle since this load shot numerous groups out to 800 last year near 1/2 MOA and worked excellent on the bull I took as well at 390 yards.

Either or, our speeds aren't far enough apart to matter. That bullet has the BC to carry it.

What other powders are comparable to staBall 6.5?

I’d bet RL26 or Hunter would do real well. Any number of powders should get over 2600 pretty easily. 26 will probably get some serious speed with them.

What about H4831, maybe that would do the job?

Gunner does well with H4831 and 200 PTs, I can’t see why it wouldn’t work with the 212’s. As long as you can get enough in the case it should work well.
I couldn’t get enough H4831SC in the case and keep a 200 AB from growing in my rifle.

What other powders are comparable to staBall 6.5? Probably the same issues as beretzs, but H4350 or RL16 do really well in most loads the 6.5 StaBALL works in. I may test it in my .30-06, as I’m not getting the results I want from it pushing 165gr TTSX’s in my .300 WSMs.

RL17 is also another that I know will get about the same speed as SB6.5. Totally forgot about that one.

That ought to be quite a load. Lots of bullet!
I used the 200 gr Nosler Partition at 2600 fps, via H4350 in Alaska a few years ago. I was pleased with what felt like relatively soft recoil and excellent accuracy. Worked well on wolf & bear too.
My rifle is the Remington 700 CDL, with a 24" 1:10 twist barrel. I think I could have gotten more velocity, but it was shooting that load so nicely...
Some of you guys know that I dearly love the good ol' 30-06 cartridge.
Regards, Guy
