During his Wednesday night CNN town hall, President Joe Biden talked about a “push to eliminate” 9mm pistols that have an ammunition capacity beyond that of which the left approves.

Biden said, “The idea you need a weapon that can have the ability to fire 20, 30, 40, 50, 120 shots from that weapon, whether it’s a 9mm pistol or whether it’s a rifle, is ridiculous. I’m continuing to push to eliminate the sale of those things.”

Up until now, Biden has pushed “assault weapons” ban legislation and moved executively to have the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) take regulatory action against AR-pistols with stabilizer braces.

On June 7, 2021, Breitbart News reported the DOJ moved to place certain AR-pistols under the purview of the National Firearms Act. But those AR-pistols are chambered in 5.56 or .223, not 9mm. Biden’s mention of going after 9mm pistols opens the door to regulating wildly popular Glock, Heckler & Koch, Smith & Wesson, Sig Sauer, Kahr, Taurus, and Springfield Armory pistols, among many others.

News flash, all firearms are capable of firing 120 shots. I have a single shot with over 1000 rounds through it.

The idea is to slow down those perpetrating terrorist acts with firearms by having them reload more often. Theoretically that gives more opportunity for victims to disarm the assailant(s) and reduce number of casualties.

Yes, that is why people are buying anything that hits the shelves, although I am told the situation is getting better. They can not realistically eliminate the 2nd Amendment, therefore, going after ammunition makes a whole lot of sense.

Nor does it mention barrels, locks, stocks, triggers, sights, etc., so I guess it's not violative of the Second Amendment to ban those.

Nothing happens over night. In the 1960’s I bought what was called an NRA carbine. The CMP sold them in two batches that were released. It was delivered to my front door. Shot gun news ran dozens of firearms adds. Sold directly to customers.

The mayoral candidate pointed to the handgun as a major contributor to the gun violence in inner cities. The "misplaced" priorities need to be shifted to monitoring handguns, according to Adams.

"It is extremely important that, just as we became energetic after we saw mass shootings with assault rifles in suburban parts of our country, which we should have, we should have also focused on the handgun," he said.

Adams also added that the number of handgun deaths in the country is "astronomical." He believes that the first step towards reducing that number is aligning the legislation at federal, state and local levels.

Tapper, pointing out that a handgun ban is not possible in the U.S., asked Adams how the mayoral candidate plans to translate the issue with handguns into legislation.

"We should not have to ban handguns," Adams replied. "We need to zero in on that handgun, and you will see the decrease in many of these shootings."
