Thank-you, but I don't want to blow smoke. I own the rack, but I did not take the deer. That deer was shot in 1953 near Ft. Robinson, Nebraska by a gentleman named Leonard Lancaster and still has the fish and game tag with the date. As a side note 1953 was the "first regulated" rifle season in the state. When I was a kid Lenny and his wife lived about a block away from us.

He was a hunter and had some of his racks in his garage including this one pictured. Years later after I was married I heard Lenny and his wife were going to assisted living and that they were having a sale. I had my mom go talk to him and long story short he gave me the rack. He told my mom that he was impressed I remembered the rack and since he had no sons he thought it was great that I wanted it. Since I've owned the rack I tell Lenny's story every time I show it off.

Superb mulie - and great job on the euro mount. That is one cool looking rack! I dig unique stuff like crab claws, acorns, and what-not. Way cooler than some standard typical 4-point.

I gave taxidermy a try a long damn time ago when I was too poor to afford mounts. I still have a pronghorn (rifle) and a sheep (bow) that I did about 35 or so years ago. My wife makes me keep them out in the garage, and I don't blame her. But WTF, every time I look at them I can still see the sight picture moments before they hit the dirt.

One of these days I'll drag them out and take pics, but I'd have to post them on a Hall of Shame thread.

That was obviously way before the interwebs and YouTube. I actually had to use mail ordered books from Jack Atcheson's Taxidermy to do my learnin'. Actually had to lick a stamp, put it on an envelope with a check in it, and wait for 6 - 8 weeks to get my books.

I dont know what it is about Tennessee deer.
Over the years since fall of 92 I have had 7 or 8
charge me.
5 or 6 of em I have been able to scare off out beyond 25 30 yards
This is the only other one I ever shot charging got within 15 17 yards
Full head of steam coming in
Little 1.5 -2 yr old 8.

Length wise body shot on this one also.

Felt bad about it cause a deer like that has alot of potential if it could survive to 3.5 to 5 yrs old around here.
But the chance of a deer making to get old in Tn back then was pretty well slim to none.
You could take 11 bucks thruout all the states zones back then.

Limit now is 2.
Deer have a chance to age and grow now.
