Super M, then 560.

We test (Framed?), an 830 Case with a fully mounted five 16's plough. no front end weights. eek

After we watched my father attempt to drive it, Jim, and I decided descression was the better part of valor!

I see. I confused the JD reference to mean that you had defected to the dark side with tractor as well as plow. Any trouble with the rear end on the 560?

No John, we only used it one year, then traded it for an IH 806 gas.

Long story, we kept blowing exhaust valves on that, even with a 1206 radiator.

I plowed 2 acres last fall. I think it was the only thing that could have handled the brush.

I prefer classic.

Wabi,
Spent many a cold spring day ruining my eardrums aboard a JD 2 cylinder pulling 4X14”! The old days of discing the stalks, plowing and harrowing before planting were a good way of keeping kids busy and away from the allurements of the evil “town” girls. We finally went to the minimum till program at the urging of the county extension service. Best thing we ever did. Doubled our grain yields and increased our ensilage by 25%.

A friend talked about harrowing corn stalks crossways after all the disking, so the coulters would slice the stalks shorter.

And now the harrows sit, forgotten, with grass growing over them, waiting for the unwary to drive a tractor across them.

I've found such as that when shredding overgrown ranches.

Ran plumb over a steel/porcelain bathtub in high weeds some idiot had used for a water trough years ago. It won't hold water now... Rolled it up like a burrito. grin
