Sorry to hear Ed

Quelle surprise! The border guards struck a deal.

Border guards, Ottawa reach tentative deal days before travel restrictions ease
Deal comes after more than 36 hours of mediated talks, work-to-rule campaign
The Canadian Press · Posted: Aug 06, 2021 9:50 PM ET

Canada's border agents reached a new tentative agreement with the federal government late Friday after a daylong work-to-rule campaign left long lines of semi-trailers and passenger vehicles idling for hours at some of the country's busiest international gateways.

The deal — announced late Friday after more than 36 straight hours of mediated talks — came with just days to spare before U.S. citizens and permanent residents are expected to begin queuing up for their first chance to get into Canada since before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Guards who work for the Canada Border Services Agency were part of the work-to-rule job action that began early Friday amid contract talks between the federal government and the Public Service Alliance of Canada's Customs and Immigration Union.

Members of the union, which represents some 9,000 CBSA employees, spent the day following procedures to the letter after a negotiation deadline was set for 6 a.m. ET Friday.

"We are relieved that CBSA and the government finally stepped up to address the most important issues for our members to avoid a prolonged labour dispute," Chris Aylward, national president of the Public Service Alliance of Canada, said in a statement.

Thank you. I was able to create an account using my email address and a password. That's all fine well and good. But that is just for me. My WIFE will also need an account, and the same email will be used. I need to know how to set her up because she will be crossing along with me.

Someone provided me a link to a list of covid tests that are accepted by the Arrive Canada folks. I printed it out and gave it to my wife to file. i am thinking it has been "mislaid" forever. I have tried to locate it within Arrive Canada. I have failed so far. Can anyone lend a hand and provide a link to the info. Thank you in advance.

The information on testing requirements is in the application. You fill out the form until you reach the information. I was at Anticosti in the first week of October. The ArriveCanada process was pretty easy less some system problems (Arrive Canada did not like Microsoft Edge of Firefox when I put my data into the system - this may have been corrected), When I arrived at the border my vaccine info was on the system and I showed them documentation of my test results (PCR test). The whole thing took 5 minutes. Just make sure you have everything done. As a just in case I brought additional paper copies of my documents.

The following is from the ArriveCanada website and identifies acceptable tests.

To qualify as a fully vaccinated traveller, you must also follow these requirements:
1. Get a pre-entry test (accepted types and timing)
Who must take a pre-entry test

All travellers 5 years of age or older, regardless of citizenship or vaccination status, must:

provide proof of a COVID-19 negative molecular test result to enter Canada OR
proof of a previous positive test result taken between 14 and 180 days.

Types of pre-entry test

Rapid antigen tests aren't accepted.

Accepted types of molecular tests

PCR - Polymerase chain reaction
Nucleic acid test (NAT) or Nucleic acid amplification test (NAATs)
Reverse transcription loop-mediated isothermal amplification (RT-LAMP)

These tests use methods such as a nasopharyngeal (NP) swab, nose swab, or saliva sample.
Other acceptable types of tests

RT-PCR – reverse transcription real time PCR
Quantitative PCR (qPCR)
Isothermal amplification
Droplet digital PCR or digital droplet PCR (ddPCR)
Transcription-mediated amplification (TMA)
RNA (Ribonucleic acid)
Ct (cycle threshold)
CRISPR
Sequencing
Next generational sequencing (NGS) or whole genome sequencing (WGS)
Oxford Nanopore sequencing (LamPORE)
Detection of the N gene
Detection of Orf1a/b
Detection of the S gene
Detection of the E gene
Detection of the RdRp gene
