I have no worries or need to wear a mask but you should stop and think maybe it's someone with a compromised immune system like my uncle with copd. He looks perfectly healthy but he's one little bug away from the funeral home. Some of you guys take it a bit far. How did he get COPD? What does it matter? It matters how he got it. Occupational from working? Or the result of years of stupid decisions such as smoking, vaping, drugs, etc.? He gets sympathy if it ain’t his fault, less so if he did it to himself. That was the point of the question. Didn't see him hunting sympathy. He gave a reason a person would wear a mask. I agree they probably aren't very effective. As a defense. They have to be a bit more effective at preventing spread. It's pretty simple. If you are broadcasting virus, the mask will stop....some. How much? No idea. Enough? Maybe enough to prevent an effective dose to someone. Worth it. I don't wear one. Mostly haven't from day one. Only wore one occasionally to be courteous. But to say they have no effect is obviously wrong. It's an absolute. When we are dealing with an issue with no absolute knowledge.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

Why would this trigger a desire to hurt someone? Sounds like the mask wearer is not the only one with issues. BTW , I think the survival rate is more like 99.7% overall. If it were the 97% that you state, tens of millions more would already be dead. See how misinformation gets around?

If masks prevented the transmission of sickness as well as they now claim, they’d have been mandated in ERs and hospital waiting rooms for twenty fugking years.

I saw a woman driving down a quiet country road by herself in a car wearing a mask yesterday. This was about 20 minutes from town where she might go to a store or other place with lots a people. It doesn’t piss me off. It just makes me shake my head. I don’t care though because I now see it as a scarlet letter. It clearly identifies who they are among us.
