And to top it all off, the stupid POS didn't even go to an American owned company..............piss poor optics.
MM
Darn shame but Paccar (Peterbilt and Kenworth) is the only North American
company.
Mercedes owns,
Freightliner, Sterling(Ford), Western Star.
Volvo owns Mack.
Know people at the Hagerstown Mack plant.
Considering the days of Pedigreed Macks today's trucks are sad.
Engine parts are mostly outsourced. (No surprise, right!)
But it's worse than you would think.
They have buyers assigned to just a few parts.
Maybe, piston, wrist pin and rod?
They bid those parts on a continuing evolution.
One guy, does nothing but source those few parts!
So if you order 10 identical Macks this year, your engines might have pistons
from 5 different sources. This kind of penny pinching nonsense on a $30k engine!
