I know that rifle. 🦫 Damn fine looking 71, If I could only have one it would be the 71. There’s an unbelievable story to this rifle. It was my Dad’s. It was stolen, along with several other rifles and shotguns from my older brothers house when I was 14 years old. I got a call almost 40 years to the day they were stolen by a cop in Gresham, Oregon telling me the Model 71 was located at a reputable gun shop where the owner had wanted to put it for sale on consignment. GS had to run a check on the serial # before taking it in to sell - found it was stolen, called the police. I eventually ended up with the rifle. Both my dad and brother were dead. The guy who had the 348 claimed he’d bought it years ago from another person. Put it in his closet, never used it and was now too old to hunt, so he started selling off his wares. Dude was pissed that the rifle came up as stolen - he tried to fight for ownership, but I was having none of it. Cops surrendered the Model 71 to me. None of the other firearms have ever resurfaced...This rifle was the only firearm I had hoped would show up. Like you said, if I could only have one. It would be a Mod 71 348 Winchester. 🦫 There it is… pretty epic actually

Fresh kill I came across, in griz country. I should have tucked tail and bugged the fück out, but I figured since I was already there a quick pic couldn't hurt.

Continental Divide in the Wind Rivers. Water to the right of the cliff goes to the Pacific. That to the left, the Atlantic.

Sept 2020 My annual bullet test on moose in Alaska, this time with one of my wildcats, testing the factory made 300 LRC brass, received the test bullets From Badlands Precision on the last week of my moose hunting season, limited load development (1 evening) before the hunt, couple of 3 shot groups at 1/2" with no signs of pressure and took off into the trees, moose shot on the last day of the hunt , spectacular kill shot at 250 yards, the 205 gr Super Bulldozer absolutely wiped out that dandy bull moose on the spot with zero steps taken, pop n drop magnified to max effectiveness ! no tracking or following blood trail for hours needed, whatever that stupid shyte means, I'm not an Indian yo ..... lmao after the hunting season the load clocked at 3050 fps with the Magnetospeed V3 Def got room for improvement in the short case design, created by cutting down 338 Lapua Mag, 338 & 300 Norma Mag brass to 1.990" the short Super Magnum ......
