Jmo but if there were ever groups of workers that needs Unions itâs city Police Departments and Walmart employees.
The Baton Rouge City Police Union has stood by their members and gotten several edicts and unjust firings reversed and with full benefits, former positions and backpay restored.

Why would any intelligent person even consider being a police officer of any sort in a city like Portland?
You obviously didnât read the article or were unable to comprehend it.
This is NOT about Portland looking to hire More/New Police officers.
This is about resurrecting the Portland Gun Violence Unit and recruiting âExistingâ officers to join, or rejoin the Unit.
Maybe you should stick to cleaning up your own mess in TX before commenting on other cities and states.
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Give a man a welfare check, a forty ounce malt liquor, a crack pipe, an Obama phone, free health insurance. and some Air Jordan's and he votes Democrat for a lifetime.
The biggest problem with Portland is the piss poor liberal leadership .... they have not only allowed the city to get to the point that homeless camps litter every section of the city these days, but their policies have done nothing but encourage the homeless population and haven't done a thing to help people get off the streets. Add Antifa/BLM into the mix and you have a recipe for a slum city in the making....
There are still parts of Portland that are beautiful and perfectly safe, but the areas where a lot of people who visit Portland would like to see are either run down from the political and terrorist turmoil land riots, or are at the end of roads leading into the city that are lined with homeless encampments, garbage, derelicts, and undesirables... not the kind of picture a city should want to put out to the world in any case.
I live about 15 miles outside of Portland and most of the urban areas around Portland are in great shape and keep the issues to a minimum. Our police forces are well supported by the community and we don't require citizen oversight of the police to maintain great communities. In fact, other than Portland, there are really no real problems to speak of in Oregon and most of the state is still as beautiful as ever- not counting the areas being consumed by wild fires these days..... having to defend our state because of a bunch of liberal a-holes who have let our leading city go to he!! in a handbasket has gotten old for sure....

Never underestimate your ability to overestimate your ability.
Not only do you have to be selfless but you have to believe that place is worth dying for- no thanks.
Progressives are the most open minded, tolerant, and inclusive people on the planet, as long as you agree with everything they say, and do exactly as you're told.
The future of Law Enforcement will have nothing to do with The Law, or Social workers.
We are seeing a calculated long term operation whereas LEO that respect the rule of law and especially the Constitution are being phased out, forced to quit or retire early. We are seeing the same in our US Military.
The defund the police movement is only temporary as it is designed to rid the system of the existing mindset. Once the country has been turned upside down with lack of a working police force, the We Must Fund The Police, BUT We Must Replace It With âŚâŚwill be the narrative and Americans will beg for it.
Once our police forces are replaced with Obamaâs Brown Shirts (remember that speech) the operation will be complete.
Our police will be modeled after 1940âs Germany, and Americans will welcome it, at first.

Some close family friends moved there about a year ago. Bought their first house, very nice btw.
Their two daughters are asleep under our roof right now.
Theyâre trying to find anyway possible to get back to AK ASAP.
I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.
Kansas City has the same problem Our Mayor pulled huge amounts of money out of the force, then tried to cut their state budget as well even when he didnât control it.
He is very much a âjust give them ice creamâ and they will stop shooting each other kind of guy. Now they have to close all the parks in Kansas City at 10pm because of the increased amount of crime and lower number of police.

Leaders in Portland, Ore., are looking to combat the cityâs rising homicide rate by resurrecting a police unit focused on gun violence. But after a year of growing tension within the department, they canât find enough officers to join.
Since 14 job openings were announced in May, only four police personnel have applied to work with the new version of Portlandâs Gun Violence Reduction Team, which was shut down last year amid long-running protests seeking racial justice and an overhaul of police practices. None have yet been assigned.
Portland officers say such positions, once considered prestigious, are now less desirable, given the increased scrutiny that accompanies them. The new unit has its own citizen-advisory board, instituted after the old unit was criticized by city leaders for racial profiling. A job description says qualifications include the ability to fight systemic racism.
âTheyâre demonizing and vilifying you, and then they want to put you in a unit where youâre under an even bigger microscope,â said Daryl Turner, head of the union that represents Portlandâs officers.
Portland police have coped with frequent late-night street violence in the past year, as well as criticism from politicians and activists on the right and left.
Jami Resch, assistant chief of the Portland Police Bureauâs investigations branch, acknowledged that morale is down in the department. She said criticism of the old unit and uncertainty surrounding the new one and its relationship with the oversight committee have slowed applications. Once those roles are clarified, there will be more interest, she predicted.
Homicide rates rose 24% in a sample of 32 American cities in the first quarter of 2021, compared with the same period last year, according to a recent study by the Council on Criminal Justice, a think tank focusing on criminal-justice policy and research. The rates are far below peaks from the 1990s.
. Why don't you just post the link to fox news you gathered the data from, and save yourself the typing!

There will be an interim period to fill the existing void.
I do believe what youâve said as being the end game, though.

I wouldn't be a police officer in any large city in todays world! As far as the rifraf in Portland killing each other, give them ammo! The more of the trash killed the less to deal with down the road!

Just stay out of the crossfire.
Lovely way to live but it is what it is in most large democrat run cities.

That âinterimâ period is not really interim at all it is simply part of the main plan. And that little section of you call interim is designed to not only fail, but to force Americans to BEG for a solution, any solution, even if that means giving up all of their constitutional rights.
