Gas, fire. Apply liberally. Got me two years ago, stung me all around my hatband. 6-7 stings in the melon suck.

Bring several large cans of wasp and hornet spray. Hit the holes at night.

I do it with a can in each hand from about 10’ or so back and steadily walk up to the hole while spraying until the cans are empty.

They’ll damned near make you jump off a running tractor to get away.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

I had a ground nest full of them too. I bought can of bee killer specifically made for ground nests. I marked the opening with one of those little marker flags. I went out a couple of hours after sunset and emptied the whole can into the hole. The spray foams up and expands. Next morning there wasn't a yellow jacket to be found.

It wouldn't hurt to have a plan B in worse case scenario.
If they somehow win this battle, is there a back up plan?
Maybe just a few stings and you get back in.
I use a venom extractor, but it's good for only a few stings since it draws one at a time and time is of the essence. That's followed by a neutralizer.

Poison some hamburger and let them carry it back to the nests. You'll kill every yellow jacket in every nest as far as they travel.

Last ground nest I took out I went at with a weed burner. Then gas in the hole, more weed burner, some wasp spray, and more gas.

Then I dug up the hole with a shovel and repeated the whole process until I killed them again, 4 or 5 times.

Then I pissed on their corpses. Or, what was left of them at least.

Old wives tale.

Hit the holes with foam wasp spray just before dark and be done with it.
