1 Brother
USMC enlisted artillery
Got out went to University of Miami Army ROTC.
Did 6 got out as a Cpt
Lives on Cayman Brac.

2 daughters
APSU ROTC here in town.
1 did her 4 yrs got out as a Cpt, flying UAV,s now for a 3 letter agency, what she did in MI.

Other is fixing to make Maj
Army Nurse at Carson.
APSU ROTC also.
Her husband is a newly promoted Major in 10th group at Carson.

Me......
Im the one that always let officers adapt my ideas to get schit done right the 1st time when it counts...

Did 8 months as a PL 2lt positon in the 502nd before we got some fresh 22yr old 2Lt,s in Bn like 3 months before going to OIF1.

Gee thanks...
Been running the fugg outta this platoon training up for war.
Now Im a Psg agsin and gotta train a new 2lt.
Again for the 27th time....

Lt Hobbs was a squared away 1Lt after 1 yr in combat.

He knew he got screwed thrown into a leadership position with little time to learn and grow and learn from his PSG and SL,s.

Smart young officer.
Spent alot of after hours time going over yrs of stuff with him from my brain housing group.
I had too.
Not alot of time to get ready and I sure as fugg didnt want the joes to perceive lack of ability in him.
Doubt in a 2lt aint good for a platoon.
I have seen that many times.
They either listen and learn and grow experience
Or you get the superior beings or the indifferent types.
Only so much you can do with certain types of clay
And other types of clay come out exceptionally great.

Top of the pyramid type officer when I left the Deuce in may 04.
Everyone in the platoon respected him.
Looked at from the Bde Cmdr down to our company commander as 1 of the best PL,s in 2nd Bde.

My little nugg 2lt turned into a hard man...

Thats what NCO,s are supposed to do with young 2lt,s.
Teach, coach, mentor.
Then let em run on their own and excell.

When was he in Garmisch? I was there in 89

I will ask my wife when she gets home. I am not 100% sure on the dates. I believe he would have been there in 89.

I was on a flight across the aisle from three newly commissioned officers some years back. One of them kept flirting with the flight attendant and when she brought drinks and snacks, she asked the most talkative of the trio, I bet you went through ROTC. He answered, why yes honey, how could you tell. She said your cool haircut and debonair demeanor gave it away. Then she told the young officer in the center sear, I bet you are OCS. Why yes, ma’am, came the reply. How could you tell? She told him it was his squared away tie and high and tight haircut and his polite manners that gave him away. The third officer piped up and said, I guess you know that I went to The Academy. She said, why yes, I confirmed it when I saw your ring while you were picking your nose….
