It really is important to figure out what you like to read. Fiction, history, what? P.G. Wodehouse wrote a lot of funny stuff. Jeeves the Butler series is pretty good. "Uncle Dynamite" and many others. Sidney Powell's book "Licensed to Lie" is a good read but it's primarily about our failed justice system. Ludlum and many others are pretty good for fiction action pieces. Victor Davis Hansen is good for history. Lee Smith's "The Permanent Coup" is a good read about the deep state war against Trump. Marcus Luttrell's "Lone Survivor" is good and Chris Kyle's "American Sniper". Charles Henderson's "Marine Sniper" about Carlos Hathcock is good. Most of Jack O'Connors books are good. "Hunting in the Rockies" comes to mind.

There's lots of good stuff to read if you're interested in it. I'd pick something you are interested in and you'll be in good shape.

Past weekend picked up a Lee child and a nick Petre book.

Hellhound on His Trail: The Electrifying Account of the Largest Manhunt in American History by Hampton Sides. About the stalking of MLK and the hunt for James Earl Ray

Devil In The White City was an excellent non-fiction book. Basically two stories in one following the development and execution of the first World’s Fair in Chicago, and the path of the first documented mass serial killer in the US. Kind of tie up in that that’s where he ultimately went to set up his shop of horrors; praying on visitors to the city and whomever. Very much a page-turner, for non-fiction.

These are two really good books that are easy to read.

"Reflections of a Warrior" By Franklin D. Miller with Elwood J.C. Kureth.
Miller spent 6 years in Vietnam with SF and was awarded the MOH and a bunch of other medals.Hell of a good read.

‘Longitude’ by Dava Sobel. About learning to accurately determine longitude at sea—an important development in navigation.

‘Isaac’s Storm’ by Erik Larsen. About the deadliest hurricane in American history in Galveston, Texas in 1900.

Alaska? Read Jack London's novels or Russell Anabel's books

Frontier? Read books by Allen Eckert

Africa? Pondoro by John Taylor or Karamojo Safari by W.D.M. Bell

If you’ve only been able to finish two books in your life it’s gonna be tough to just pick out two out of two that make four.

Being that you’re doing an Alaskan adventure is highly recommend Russell Annabel. They’re not all true stories but they’re very well written & entertaining and all about life in the Alaskan frontier.

Another one that’s well written, entertaining, and set partially in Alaska is Steve Rinella’s book on American Bison. I’ll catch flack for that pick cuz his conservative creds are non-existent and he has serious issues politically but that doesn’t change the fact that his book is excellent for your purpose.
