T_Inman Campfire Ranger Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 20,288 Likes: 24	Extra, late cow season. Shot right at dusk and then it got to about -20 and the quarters froze solid overnight. What a pain to hike in that much snow, with elk quarters. Snowshoes only help with crusty snow and this was powdery on top, with wetter snow underneath to ball up when you stepped on it, so hiking on a broke path actually made things worse, like walking on rocks that you can't see. One of the worst pack outs I have done, despite it only being a mile or so and a fair amount of that on a snowed in road. Just one of those perfect storm of weather conditions. Tweety helped comfort me though.
