Assorted memories. One of my brothers with some Wuhan Chickens. My Kid. Man...I'd have killed to have started my life like he did... Modoc County CA get together with friends. Back when treehuggers were jumping off buildings because wolf hunting seasons were happening. A memorable archery buck I killed. My son. Respecting the anthem. Born buck hunter.

Some more yard bucks... One of those huge grizzlies that got away from me in '96. A solid fish I caught on a solo trip... Springtime is beautiful around my place. Overlooking my neighborhood from the east.

You have a great trophy room Sal. I have one mounted deer, everything else gets euro mounted or just tanned while I spend the taxidermy money on the next adventure, I have stuff piled everywhere. I even have a pretty damn big non typical bull elk euro leaned up in the corner of the dining room. I wish I had the drive and organization for a display like yours.

It takes a long time for a guy like me to put that together. I've been a butcher most of my life and never really made much more that $20 bucks an hour, but I had a dream. Most people are lazy and give up. Work hard and never lose sight of your dreams.

Sal,
My dear Mother was born and raised in Collinsville and was schooled in Rio Vista. Truly a dump of a house (shack) that flooded often with salmon commercial fishing bringing the Italians and the coin until it was stopped. My uncle, her brother, owned Hap's Bait Shop there in Rio Vista just across the street from Foster's. My aunt (Mother's elder sister and uncle) managed the BeeDee Ranch on the river so I was given a written pass to hunt dick and pheasant. A truly remarkable time goring up.
Conduct is the best proof of character.

You have always struck me as a very successful overachiever. You are an asset to this board Ed.

Swamplord, you’re the moose king until someone comes along and proves better. Do those moose typically stay in a “home range” or are you beating the brush until you find them?

Looking at this thread makes me feel like I have failed as a hunter. I have killed maybe 35 whitetails, 13 of them were bucks. A small pile of squirrels and bunnies. Only 4 pheasants, 20-ish ducks and 3 geese in 50 years of hunting. Wasn't for lack of trying. I was in the field most weekends during season. But I always had a good time.
Now that everyday is Saturday, ( damn, retirement feels good ) come season the duck #'s should ( hopefully ) greatly increase. I love duck hunting, and I think they are delicious. Will be on the pond more days than not.
I do miss hunting with Dad. He didn't have much luck in the field either.
I haven't posted any pics because #1 I don't have very many, and #2, the ones I have are embarrassing compared to all of the pics here.

I don't have that many hunting pics either.
Pretty much none from the last 4-5 years.
But like you say being outside is key.
Watched the sun rise up in the grass hills this morning.
Deer and bird central, no pics though.

Prplebkrr Nothing to be embarrassed about. I hunt heavily pressured public land only. Seeing a mature animal only happens a few times a year. Getting a shot happens even less. Not everyone has the opportunity at mature animals due to the area they hunt. It’s all about memories. I’ve spent an entire season chasing an old doe numerous times. Nothing harder to kill in the woods than one of those with a bow. Might not be a drool worthy “trophy” pic but it was way more fulfilling than killing a big buck with a gun to me. Compared to most on here, this is a decent deer but nothing exceptional. Funny thing is, it was in the top 100 P&Y killed all time in my state. Shot him on public ground that’s HEAVILY pressured.

Taking pictures never entered my mind when i was young, i always thought i would remember every critter or experience, big mistake on my part, now i wish i had pictures of it all.
Salmonella, Your pictures of family hunting and fishing are amazing your collection of mounts and how they are displayed is very impressive, there's a lot in your pictures to be proud of not just critters. Rio7
