Went up in the Warners for a little hike with the wife and dogs. Just to give them something new to smell. Dandee the youngest had never been up to Blue Lake, elev 6050 feet. 3 mile trail around the lake, even the little 12 year old girlie dog did fine. A bit smoky though, my lungs and nose were not happy by the end of the walk.

I rarely use the panorama feature, but figured I could get the whole lake in from the inlet end if I did.



At the start of our walk I looked up and saw this nest. Osprey and bald eagles live up at the lake. We saw a baldy on the far side when we got over there. No telling which one uses this one:

The balls of my feet are somewhat hurting today, otherwise I feel great. Kind of surprising, considering I could barely move yesterday and feared I would be laid up for several days. Maybe I am young again......or maybe it just says a lot for a GOOD fitting pack, GOOD boots and being so damn insanely GOOD looking.

How’d the 135 Berger Classic Hunter’s do ?

Bad picture angle....but he is barely full curl: no brooming.

ADFG aged him at 11 years old. He had a lot more outward flare to his horns than curl, but he's 100% legal, and I'm 200% proud of him.

Told you all I'd find him again. He moved 1 drainage to the north after I (assume) spooked him shooting that bear.

First shot was facing me at 144 yards, bedded. I try not to take those shots but it was the only angle I had and was too impatient to wait for him to stand. Completely blew his heart to pieces and blew guts all over his insides. He stood up and was on the edge of an abyss, so despite doing the Marine on liberty walk, I threw another round in him because I wanted him down NOW. That second shot DESTROYED the onside shoulder but didn't exit. I probably shouldn't have made that second shot because it ruined a lot of meat but my heart was going full throttle and I absolutely did NOT want him going off that side of the mountain. That would have added a full day to the pack out.

Overall I think they worked as advertised, but it honestly wasn't much of a test.

Correct. To be legal they need to be 8 years old, full curl or both lamb tips broken. This guy was legal 2 of those 3 ways.
