New Orleans is a democrat town and little will go as planned. On a positive note for the defeated president, Ida will take Afghanistan off as the lead story for a few days.

New Orleans is hoping that the pumps can stay ahead of the predicted rainfalls for this one. Has NO been keeping up with the pump maintenance?

Or where earthquakes occur? Or where tornadoes are common? LMFAO….yeah, because that’s exactly the same thing as building an oceanfront city 30’ below sea level. 😂😂 Mother Nature doing what she’s done since the dawn of time is not the same thing as engineering failures or human shortsightedness. If you really must stretch to draw an equivalence between building a seaside city 30 feet below the sea level and something else then that something else ain’t a natural occurring event like earthquakes. It would be more accurate to compare building a city below sea level to building a city on top of a volcano. Each time the volcano burps the rest of the country shoulders the costs of rebuilding the city on top of the volcano. 😉 With that said, I do hope everyone in harms way is able to ride this out with minimal damage and no injuries. NOLA is an interesting city with a rich history and a lot of people in harms way. I don’t believe that “moving” NOLA or relocating the city is in any way viable so at this point we put our faith in the engineers, hydrologists and the Good Lord each time a storm threatens her. I’m likely in the minority when I say that rebuilding NOLA (again) is our collective “responsibility” as a nation whether we like it or not, just like it is for earthquakes in California or tornadoes in Kansas. For everyone in the potential path of the storm…..STAY SAFE and get out while you can. 👍

I didn't know this until I read this article a few minutes ago, but 150 years ago all of NOLA was above sea level. How Humans Sank New OrleansThe problem is people don't like to be told no. Most all of the lower Delta has sunk over the years. When they pump the water out the land contracts, the same thing is happening to some Pacific islands You’re right. One more piece of military equipment put on Guam and over she goes into the ocean. Hank Johnson said so. New Orleans gets its utility and drinking water from the Mississippi River not from below the city. You are mistaken to assume that drinking water is causing the shrinking because it is not. The very pumps that will be pumping the city dry tomorrow are part of the problem as are the canals that are dug to drain low lying areas. The same thing happened in the Netherlands when they built massive dykes to keep the people safe and dry because after they did they actually worked the land dried out and contracted and is still contracting today. So as the land dries it contracts even if no one drinks
I VOTED FOR TRUMP TWICE, AND WILL VOTE FOR HIM AGAIN

Not really. The system is antiquated and difficult to maintain. The main problem is the power supply. See This

New Orleans is hoping that the pumps can stay ahead of the predicted rainfalls for this one. Has NO been keeping up with the pump maintenance? The gent in charge of drainage was on tv a little while ago. He claims that the pumps are tested and ready. The wildcard as always is how much rain falls in what period of time.

Biden needs to put on his cape and head down to the LA coast to direct the hurricane away from New Orleans. Didn’t the media portray him with these kind of powers in the run up to the election?

If one believes the rumors of how things work in NOLA, that means multiple people are on the payroll to test and maintain the pumps and the maintenance funds are gone at the end of every year. Whether any testing and maintenance was actually done, well that's a different question.

Oldman03, Thanks for the clarification. I thought I had read somewhere during Katrina that NOLA was 20’ or 30’ BSL but I am obviously mistaken since I’ll believe a “local” over my memory. 😁

Did his pump calculations include the influx of MD2020 bottles, beer cans, crack pipes and used rubbers?
