We had meatloaf on Saturday!

I love a good meatloaf.

The lean ground works really good for meatloaf.

Compound or not?

BGE, Kamado Joe, and Primo are your top end ceramics, and all fairly similar for the most part. KJ probably has a better hinge and gasket then BGE. I wanted a KJ but had no dealers nearby so I went with another BGE. In hindsight, I wished I had actually gone with a Primo Oval XL. I feel the oval shape to be better than round.
Can you leave these things exposed out in freezing weather all Winter?
I grill even when there's a foot of snow on the ground.
I live in ND. It sits out all year, never seen a cover. I have smoked meat in blizzards and sub zero temps. It's the reason I own a ceramic.
Thanks for the clues, gentlemen! I was afraid they might get water in them, freeze & crack.

Jack: My name is Jack M. I grill ballparks on a gas grill and drink Bud Light.
(From the group, in unison) “Welcome Jack”

Jack: I used to have time to wait for an hour for my overpriced, faddy, flu flu yeti/salt life/egg grill to heat up with my organic lump charcoal to cook my grass fed organic beef burgers. Now? I eat cheap hotdogs made from peckers and lips with ketchup. I wish I could die.

You don't need a kamado or a weber or any grill to cook anything. Our ancestors did it on racks of fresh green willows and fire.

They also wore buckskins and had to fend off grizzlies trying to eat our elder great, great, great grandparents.

I’d say they’re faster than a regular charcoal grill. And you can cook anything.

They are handy cooking devices.

Other than breakfast or a frozen pizza I don't cook that much food inside the house.

^^^^^This is what you need to do. As said, 400* is way too hot to smoke and soaking wood does nothing except delay the smoke as the wood just steams until it is dry enough to start smoking. I have cooked a bit on Green Eggs. wink

That little one on the bird feeder stand is kinda cute.

I told the wife that when I check out to have me cremated and put my ashes in it. laugh

Perfect! wink

Is she to cook burgers and dogs over them and have a party too? laugh

Sure,

I bet all the BGE owners will get right on that.

Oh,

loaves....................like beeves.

You are thinking about it aint ya??

Think of all that expensive charcoal you could save. Thing practically pays for itself.

Your wife likes your cooking right? Its not really for you....it's for "us".

Its really an investment in you both. Plus, its healthier.

Its a no brainer. Could easily bake artisan bread in it as well. Might be a nice little side income.

Really, you are loosing money not having one!

Thus endeth the sales pitch.

Dude, you are so right!

I hate losing money by NOT spending a thousand dollars.

re: the bread thing. It might actually work well for us for that. We could not use the breadmaker in the summer, which we do because we don't want to heat up the house with the oven.

Bought a little pizza oven that fits on my little grill, but it won't work for a real loaf of bread..........or loaves.........like beeves.

Wife prefers chicken. She ate the steaks from the other night, but would have preferred bird.

Broads............what the heck do they know.

Chicken is like an appetizer before the red meat, no?

You are welcome.

As a side note, we eat a lot of chicken. Even with the mountain of beef we divide up between like 7 freezers.

Nobody makes a bimetal thermometer that's on the money throughout the range of all cooking. Nobody.

You like ceramics? Try using an inferred grill for your steaks.
...and a MK4 thermometer

Smoking? Use a "SMOKE" thermometer in your smoker unit.
203 Degrees F works real well for your unit.

That's my $.02 .
