Mine cannot understand that men hear ONE thing at a time. If I'm paying attention to (for example) the TV and she starts talking, she canNOT understand why I miss the first few words she says while I "change channels" to hers. Women can listen to five or six different people talking at once and hear it all. Men can't; it's that simple.
(It does not help at all that I have to hear my tinnitis on top of everything else.)
True Rocky. I may be reading “the ‘Fire”, a magazine article, watching something on the tube and she starts talking. When I realize she’s talking to me (the only other person in the house 😊). I have to say, “whoa, whoa, whoa, back up a second. What are we talking about?”
It’ll be 50 years next summer but getting her to understand that being able to focus intently on the job at hand is one of the traits that kept me alive flying off the boat for 21 years and 5000+ hours. It’s simply “compartmentalization”.
Capt Frank (I think) Dully from the Naval Safety Center made a presentation about it in the ‘80’s called “Sex and the Naval Aviator”. It’s probably somewhere on You Tube, etc.
