Nah - $30 / 3 years and a 40 mile drive igets me a key to the range with 4 or 5 shooting benches to 200 yards pistola range too but i haven't even looked at that.
enuf for my purposes - use it 2 or 3 times a year

The Oklahoma City Gun Club does require NRA membership.
There are 2 rules to success:

Mine requires that I pay all the property taxes every year... the bastids (but no NRA membership, so that's cool)

My gun club does not. It is getting a new handmade shooting bench next week though... My gun club does require you be proficient enough with firearms to even use the range though.  Invitation only.  Your range is run by a Rockin' Mother fuqker!!

And all the old TVs, washing machines, and refrigerators to shoot at. World has no shortage of slobs that leave things they shoot at on public land, but some groups in this area do cleanups once a year or more. We have removed things numerous times up to a pickup full.

I belong to two ranges in PA, one requires it, the other does not. I also belong to a range in New Jersey (where I live) and NRA membership is required.

our local range just requires you to pay your annual fee... and obey range rules.... thats about it.

I belonged to a range they called a "country club" that required you to be a liar and have someone vouch for you. I asked if my reference was a liar too would that be a problem? They said welcome to the club.
