LT30 works well with 40 grain bullets. Blue Dot is great for a reduced load that's accurate.

My 840 in .222 shoots CFEBLK with the 30gr Varmint Grenade lights out, mv is about 3450fps through the chrono. Unfortunately, that bullet is about as aerodynamic as a potato, so that'd be a real stretch for 250 yards. I've got mine zeroed at 100, and it drops about 5-6" by 200.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but this seems an appropriate place for this. A friend asked me the other day about .222 magnum brass. Buying new or is there anything that you can form it out of? He has a rifle that belonged to His grandfather that He would like to shoot, but has no brass. I don't think that He reloads, but has lots of friends, including me, that does. He has His Grandfathers reloading equipment. Any help appreciated. miles

You can form it out of 204 Ruger brass, or fairly rare 5.6x50 Magnum those are the only two long enough. The 204 is basically a 222 Rem Mag Improved necked down to 20 cal. so running it through a 222 Rem Mag will open the neck, squeeze down the body and move the shoulder back.

Nosler makes 222 Rem Mag brass check with Huntingtons for brass for it, place a wanted add here on the campfire there is quite a bit of it floating around out there Herter's bran from when it was actually Herter's is very good, made in Finland.

There are several offerings of 222 Rem Mag brass on Gunbroker.

I will tell my Friend. Looks like Natchez has some Nosler brass at a decent price. I did not check before posting because He told me He could not find it anywhere. I guess anywhere is a big place and He overlooked some. miles

Someone just gave me 1 3/4 pounds of 4198 and I have little else to use it in so I guess I will try it in the 222.
Have everything from 34 grain Noslers to 64 grain Noslers with a good mixture of Hornady's in there, so hopefully something will work.

Right now it is set up with the 35 grainers and PROMO.

I used to use H4198 but switched to Benchmark with 50 grain BlitzKings. Not much difference.
