Ruger's boat paddle stock may go down in history as producing the most felt recoil on any bolt action rifle ever produced..........
When I shoot my boat paddle 7-08 I put a sandbag between me and the rifle. I don't think there is a recoil pad on the planet that would make enough difference........
I feel the same way, they are tough as nails though and are made to be abused. I wouldn’t want one for a dedicated target rifle but for a hunting rifle it gets the job done. My .280 shot good/ok in the skeleton stock but shoots fantastic in the synthetic Hawkeye stock so that’s where it sits now. I filled the hollow stock with expanding foam to get rid of that noisy hollow sound when walking through brush. Have a 4200 Elite on top and it’s my ugly weather or nice weather deer rifle.
