Jacket on a hard cast flat nose? Hiker, Was that for me? There were 3 bullets, my handload with Montana Bullet Works 200 gr hard cast flat nose, the Underwood factory 200 gr hard cast flat nose, and the factory Underwood 200 gr flat nose jacketed full metal case. It is the full metal case bullet that broke up and appeared brittle. The first 2 loads worked great. Manny

As I mentioned above, I returned my Wolf barrel for warranty work. The folks at Wolf made the process quick and easy. I have subsequently run 50 rounds of mixed factory ammunition through the repaired barrel with no issues. The repaired barrel’s feed ramp now more closely resembles the (pictured right) Glock barrel.

I purchased my Glock Model 20 when they were first introduced. So, I thought for a $150.00 for a ss Wolf barrel I would solve any potential case head and leading issues that I might encounter with the Underwood ammo. I had an early Glock 20 also (traded it away), and mine had rather poor chamber support. Got a big bulging smiley on every case. If your factory barrel is like mine was, the aftermarket is likely to be much safer, especially considering Underwood is not stingy with the powder.

CP
Does the Wolf barrel provide more support than the Glock barrel? They appear similar.

I dropped a loaded round into both chambers and the Wolf chamber is a much tighter fit (no Glock 20 wobble). The spent Underwood brass also shows no visible signs of case head markings or bulges. So, I believe that indeed the Wolf barrel does support the case better than the factory barrel.

Thanks CP. I have a 20 with the original barrel but usually avoid using my handloads in it because of the brass issue. None of my other 10's have that issue.

Glock barrels shouldnt have large amounts of lead shot through them. Can cause an issue. They also leave a large part of the case unsupported and can cause a pretty extreme failure when shooting hot 10mm loads. I have pics of the famous glock smile on heavy 10mm loads I've ran through a couple different 10s I've owned I can send when I get a chance if interested. Wolf barrels are ok, not the best. I've owned 3 and they all shot well enough. One would cause some jams at times though. Only time I've ever had a glock fail on me

When my wife selected a Glock 29 as her walking the dog gun, the first thing I did was order .40 and 10mm barrels from KKM.

I've run a ton of the 200gr Underwood load in both 10mm Glocks and 40 cal Glocks, with factory barrels and with a KKM on the 40 cal. They all ran perfectly. I guess the chambers are tight bc I've never gotten bulged cases. This might also be because the Underwood doesn't seem to be as hot as the Buffalo Bore loads.
I also had problems with the 220 gr loads functioning consistently.
After messing around with various aftermarket recoil spring setups, I went back to the stock spring in my G20. It seems to work under a wider variety of conditions and bullet weights. It runs the Underwood 200gr and various 180gr bullets very well.

Yep-I also have gone back to the factory recoil spring too-things just seem to always work right with it.
