Years ago I bought that same shotgun from a coworker for 40 bucks. It was beat to hell and rusty. Fixed it up and gave it to youngest son for christmas.

Hauling hay this afternoon when I spy the rare rooster creeping along the field edge. Last load I stopped and grabbed an old single shot 20 gauge that was in my pickup. The shotgun is an old Stevens. That thing is light as a feather. And it was a lucky shot through some branches, nailed the cock right in the melon.
Flave, pheasant numbers are down. There are a few on the river bottom but our creek up in the hills got hit with bad hail.
Don't think I'll even bother trying it up there.
Sharptails and huns are average or better in places that didn't get hail. I think they handled the drought better than pheasants.
Kind of a downer upland bird year.
