When you say the original Ammo, I'm curious to what brand Ammo your implying?
It's very possible your talking about Flobert Ammo, by French man,
Louis-Nicolas Flobert,(1819-1894), who invented the first Rim Fire cartridge,(black powder),
in 1845!
I know Fiocchi makes it today in Italy, and Midway USA, carries it, and
Umarex also made it, from Germany, located in Arkansas.
I'm just curious to what Ammo you have, and how old it is!
The so called 9 mm Flobert Ammo I'm referring to, gets a little hard to come by!
Originally the Ammo available was a Black powder charge, according to George Madis,
Past Winchester Expert. He also States that as many as 25,781 were mfg., which is still a low number,
mfg. in terms of Firearms production. He also states that the shells were available in a 9mm short, and a 9mm long,
loaded with a #9 shot, along with the 9mm Ball Cartridge!
Keeping in mind that this is a Rim Fire Fire Arm!
Winchester did make Rim Fire Ammo also, and I'm thinking maybe that's what you've got,
Which is very collectable, especially in a sealed good conditioned box!
Remington,(the Union Metalic cartridge Co.), also mfg. some!
So I'm interested in seeing some of the Original Ammo, or even Pics of it!

I picked up a Winchester 36 back in the 70's and several boxes of Fiocchi ammo for $100 from a gentleman that brought it back from Columbia....he used it for small birds to do taxidermy.....seamed like a steep price but living in the city it was great for a lost pheasant many squirrels and keeping pests out of the garden..... Exactly! My neighbor, who never heard of it before, was also pretty impressed with it!
