I bought one of the Magpul Hunter stocks for my Ruger American Predator 223 a while back. Then I discovered there was no magazines out there that were worth a [bleep], for 223/5.56.
I'll definitely get a couple of these, and finally get my 223 Predator into that nice Magpul stock that has been sitting idle for a couple years.
Here's a couple vids that illustrate the butchery and bullshit around the subject rifle/stock, and making the MDT or other magazine work.
This is why I'm stoked to see Magpul producing this magazine. I had bothered Magpul a year or so ago, over the phone about if/when this might happen. They were very tight-lipped at the time.
I've got a couple on the way. Now I'll be able to drop my Ruger American Predator 223 into the Magpul stock that's been gathering dust for the last few years.
Got a couple of these I am using in 5 round configuration. Work well with my AICS bottom metal. I use them on a 6/45 and filed them open to accept a 2.53 oal.
10 rounds load easy and smooth, feed the same. Internal length is 2.42". they are advertised as handling OAL of 2.39", so there is still some wiggle room in there.
The Ruger American Predator with the Magpul stock, and the new magazines. Paint job is not finished....I discovered some of my rattlecans had lost pressure.
Too bad these won’t work with Ruger American factory stocks. From the link posted above;
“Due to the feed geometry dictated by the .223 Remington cartridge and the Ruger American overall receiver length, this magazine is not recommended for use in the Ruger American rifle. While it will be possible to insert the magazine into Ruger American rifles that accept AICS-pattern magazines, function and reliability may be heavily compromised.“
