Congratulations, that is a dandy. I believe I'd have to have that one mounted. I too would like to hear the hunt details.

Had ta talk to him on end last yr for him to put a stand on that ridge after my 2 encounters with no good shot.
And his encounters at the head of the valley with no good shot.
That buck wasnt a dummy and was using slope and terrian to his advantage last year late season.

Did it back in may when we spent a day out their putting it up and clearing shooting lanes after the intial terrian walk proir.

And yes Slumlord needs ta give how it went down and techy equipment details.

I know how it went down.
But he needs to give the 411 on it.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

Looks like a real nice buck.
5yrs old.

Still hunting about 1400 yds to him.

He told me to start a thread.

LOL!!!

A few specs.

This a deer we both are certain is a resident buck, we both also had eyes on him last fall. Each time a mask of saplings or terrain prevented a kill then.

For this year we adjusted the placement of a stand only about 175 yards. If not for this deer but just overall the typical movement of the does in this spot of woods. Several folds, saddles and ridges.

So this morn, we split up to cover two potential areas holding does. A yearling doe ran up a steep hill towards my stand, obviously body language revealed a push.
Still very brushy and leaf on in here, unusually late leaf drop.

Seen the rack coming through the shrubs at a slow walk. He pauses for about a minute only showing head, large gum tree blocking vitals. Just waited until vitals stepped into the site picture.

52 yards, angled front quartering, DRT, fell back and drum kicked in the leaves for a few secs.

Wasn’t sure if this was going to be a Lazarus situation, reloaded quick and waited. Not seeing the carcass just waited and waited to see if he had slipped below the terrain to resurface elsewhere.

Gave it 45 mins. Didnt call ren for 90 mins. Try to let him hunt cause I know he’d drop all and head to me. So Sandbilly and Hookeye got the jimmy olsen Lol

He needs to add in about how it is such a jedi mind fugg to the keebler daddie and sonny boy.

Aka: the deer wounders.......
Yr after yr after yr...
After last yrs fiasco of 3 wounded deer and 1 recovered.
I will not involve myself in any help tracking a wounded deer ever again.
Mr I cant see a wounded fork horn 80 yds out in open oaks.
Im giving a detailed simple description of where it is at.
Then grab his rifle and look thru his scope to kill this fugging thing set on 9 power half and full mooning eye relief.
Little buck hit a Y valley and was gone in the 2 or 3 secs his scope was fughing me up.
He had a good 25 30 secs himself before that trying to find the fughing thing
Couldn't even see it with his Mt Palomar lens glasses

Left my rifle at the truck just wanting to focus on blood trail and scanning ahead.
Kinda my fault in a little way for doing that.

But when I gave him back his rifle and told him always leave your scope on low power for schitt like this.

I had enough...

Daddie was following behind us 40 yds.

I left
Walked by him didnt say a word to that moron either.

I wont even talk to either one unless addressed directly. And then only out of courtesy, and that is because slumlord is my friend and I am not gonna put him in a uncomfortable position family and in law wise.

Their are some choice words and phrases I would like to say to them 2.
But I wont...

Not my place I am a geust.
And not my role.
