I have the 4-6x44 on a Mountain Ascent.

Best scope for the money, I think? Don’t wanna start an optics forum pissing match.

Nah, I don’t really care.

Dang thing is light weight, and shoots, tight sexy holes.

I’ve played musical scopes on it. Currently, it has a Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42 sitting. Decent enough scope, but it has covered turrets........The 7 wsm allows plenty of power to dial ranges. Thinking I need a different scope, but I don’t want to crucify myself with additional scope weight.

Decision, decisions....

Had a Leupold VX6 on it once....Sold it...wish I hadn’t now. It was a nice compromise between weight and dialing. YMMV

Maybe a Razor LHT.........

Nailed it....I’ve been looking for Razor LHT with a G4i on eBay that’s under $1k

Zeiss V4?

Another good choice......

I'm going LHT this time around!

Another possibility is an Arisaka Type 38 I found out about this afternoon. If I am reading the marks correctly, it was made in 1909. I'll be looking at that one tomorrow.

Otherwise, I have a 98 Mauser I want rebarreled to 6mm Rem. I currently have a 6mm already but it has a 1:12" twist and it does not like to shoot any 100 gr bullets other than Rem Core-Lokts. It will shoot Sierra Pro-Hunters decent enough but I have only one partial box of those. I figure a 1:8" twist will work well with the remaining 100 gr bullets I have on hand as well as with any heavier or unleaded bullets I might want to use.

Let me know if you get the .30rem. I have a set of dies in the shop somewhere. A friend had a 41 and I made a batch before he moved to AZ

Why limit yourself to 4"? If you have Alaska in mind, S&W makes even shorter barrels (or at least used to) for "Bar git off me!" useage.

Phil Shoemaker famously has carried a S&W mountain gun in .44 for some years (which would have been a 4" Barrel) mebbe still does, yet his famous recent client save was done with a 9MM pretty much at point blank range so barrel length was whatever he had in his hands at the moment and therefore of lesser import.

So IMO your options aren't limited by barrel length, though I REALLY appreciate your caliber choice! There's bigger and more powerful, but the counterweight is portability and recovery time to next shot.

What are you hoping for? I use the Legend because I am limited to straight walls when hunting in Iowa, it's been fine for me.

A very sweet caliber... hit me up if you need load data.

But if you really want to go hog wild... check out .375 Raptor (about 99% of 35 Whelen in a S/A).

I’d like a little 28ga O/U. Turk would be fine. Something with choke tubes.

Been wanting a Browning 1895 in 30-40. Fella PMd me last year he had one then never responded. Week later I stumbled into a deal on a low wall so took it home and forgort about the 1895 for a bit.

Handguns come and go. No real desire there unless I stumble into deal.

Picked up 3 lowers last week, all the parts to finish one this week, 16" collapsible, we'll see about the other two.............

I already have a 'standard' A2 config, 20" bbl, iron sighted.................. may have to go 'off the reservation' as it were........

Any suggestions???

Brother Beav, my Mauser & 375 barrel and stick of english walnut has been at the smith for over a year now!
Crazy because in the past he would have had it done in a month or two.
Guess I bragged him up a little too much here, now he is too busy... damn, kinda takes the fun out of it. Probably be my last build for a while.

You interested in a Benjamin Marauder in .22 with a Hill hand pump and a few extra mags?

Only four possibilities for 2022.

Thinking 10mm pistol, 870 20 ga Special Field, a .257 Weatherby Vanguard and a Ruger #1.

Actually that'd finish me out beyond 2022.

May just stop w the 20 ga and 10mm. Can do without em too.

I’ve also been looking for a really clean old model Charter Arms Bulldog.
Thinking about another J-frame S&W too.
Maybe one of the 3” Model 60’s with adjustable sights.

'bout the only firearm I'm in the market for would be a lever gun in .358 Win.

If I came across a decent BLR 81 or possibly a 99 that wasn't horribly overpriced, there's a reasonably good chance it would follow me home.

I'm considering a POF USA Rogue .308. A sub 6lb AR in .308, what's not to like?

Been getting the itch for another upland gun, maybe a classic sxs, or a pre-1950 pump (Rem. M31, Ithaca 37, or maybe a Model 12, in a 16 or 20 ga.
Just window shopping for now.
