Some of our neighborhood deer ended up with stubby ears and little bitty 3" tails after the freeze back in February-ish. And I know that some of the exotics around here took a hard hit, too. Seemed like the exotics from warmer climates got it the worst. Some folks lost a lot of zebra, but nothing else. I had heard the axis took the freeze very hard.

Kinda weird. Might have something to do with species and some to do with individual animals.

Thanks for sharing Bluedreaux and congrats to your boy. I've been putting in for South Llano River SP for many years just because of all the axis on it. Glad now we didn't draw again this year and may consider other options for the next couple years.

Yeah, we're gonna hold off for a while as well. Can't believe they were drawn twice. But we put in for SLRSP in every category we can.

This & really puts a smile on my face to hear folks openly talking about their faith & church. This country needs more men like you. Congrats to you & your son!

Lots more fun than shooting them yourself but you already knew that. Good times to remember.

I don't think I've shot a deer in 7 or 8 years. As soon as they were old enough to start shooting, I only hunt when they're not around.

I believe the more experienced (older) we get the more fun setting up others for success becomes.

Great story Blue, thanks for posting. You've obviously done a good job raising a fine boy. He'll remember that hunt and the time spent with you for the rest of his life.
