The mighty old oak was dead standing and had to come down...

You have heard of sliced bread?

Meet my sliced oak tree.

5' diameter at the base.

Told ya...

20" chainsaw bar and 5' tree diameter equals an "F" in math class.

In my own defense, I own a 28" bar... BUT OF COURSE it is at the other fugging house.

Some good local folks need a bit of help this winter... I'll get it whittled down some more and delivered to them. I own a small dump truck.

The spalting and figure is mind boggeling... but too much weightwidth to handle on a Woodmiser.

At the other house we are swimming in Ambrosia Maple... gave a bunch away and a guy did turn me a pretty neat bowl... as a gift.

Not 100% sure how I am going to split it... some of the rounds are huge, but only 6"-7" thick. May split it laying flat on a Hydraulic splitter like a pizza. Slabs are bit heavy... we will see.

Among many other valuable lessons I have learned here on the fire, one that is right at the top of the list of useless information, is just how full of yourself you are Cashisking. Your skin must be stretched as tight as Pelosi's.

Time to make some noodles.
I freaking love noodling.
You can tell if you have A saw or a POS toy real quick.
If she won't chooch, or she gags instead of spitting them out?
It's a toy.

i've done quite a few 4 foot white oak thanks to gypsy moths. ain't gonna lie, they are a beeotch. i have an 18" bar. i did them in 12" rounds and then used a 27 ton vertical splitter and just moved it as i went up the trunk. some sat for a few years and sunk into the ground and i had to dig under them and use a 3 ton floor jack to get them up. thank goodness i have two hefty sons. tough way to get heat. i have a 3 foot red oak on the ground right now and just doing the tops about killed me this fall but it filled a 4x8x20 wood crib to the gills so i am set for a couple years since its a camp. the main trunk will wait a couple years but i am already not looking forward to it.
