They both looked fantastic for their age. At 100 years old and based upon the few wrinkles he had I’d guess that he didn’t spend an excessive amount of time in the sun. 😁….not as much as me anyway.

Thanks for putting this up. Big thanks to Jack for his service. Interesting how humble he is --- "ah it was just one of those things". Happy 100th Jack and happy 70th to you and your wife.

And one more - Horace Taylor. I knew Horace. He served in the British army - the King's Shropshire Light Infantry - as a signaller. He served from 1939 until 1948.



This photo was taken on Remembrance Day in 2015. Horace lived for 100 years and six months. His funeral mass was last Friday.

He was a fellow who quietly went about his business. He was at Dunkirk and fought in Italy. That's where he met his first wife. He didn't talk too much about his time in uniform. I have rarely met anyone one did. He followed his passion after releasing from the army, finishing his studies in respiratory therapy. He worked at several hospitals in the UK and in Canada.

I met him about 20 years ago through his daughter. He was a religious man and wonderfully gentle. Occasionally, we talked about his medical work and his wartime experiences. We would compare notes about our service days and how they affected us. He volunteered his time well into his 90s.
