Ann-Margret...for you young pilgrims... went to Viet Nam twice. The first time, in '66, she was in the Iron Triangle in a chopper that came under fire. The troops literally formed a human shield around her until the chopper got out of range. In '68...they kept her in secure areas. She went on to support vets and vet causes. She publicly stated the shameful treatment of returning vets was totally wrong. Her kid got a medical/psych degree and is working with vets from the sandbox today. There is a real person behind the beauty. Quite a contrast to Jane Fonda, eh?
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

I love them both, but if I had to choose between them I would have to go with Sophia, I remember watching her movies as a little kid, I had no idea of what sexy was but I knew she was it, if that makes any sense. I really liked her, I just didn't know why yet. I was probably 7 or 8 at the time.

This is probably a total BS war story, but I'll share it anyway, as told to me by a fuel convoy driver who heard it from an MP....a he said, she said thing.
When Ann Margret and celebs landed in Phu Bai after taking fire from Chuck...the special services officer asked her and her gofer if she was too upset to do the show on schedule. She supposedly pointed a finger at him and, told him something like, "these guys have to do this every day...I will be out there with a huge smile, on time, buster."
I never saw the show, dang it.
