What is your favorite for all types of firearms? I'm talking JUST a cleaner, none of those fancy CLP products.
Is there anything better than Hoppe's 9?

Sweet 762 is my go to for copper mining. JB if copper mine is stubborn, then Sweets. Hoppes 9 to cleanup after copper mining. KG to oil clean bore.
For scatterguns, RGS dissolves wad fouling like no other.

Most modern cleaners are better than Hoppes 9.

I use shooters choice and my rifles shoot great. If/when I buy a used rifle with a lot of copper in the pipe, I use sweets or jb. I use rem oil a lot for a lubricant. Tried Ezzox for a rust preventative, but the chidt stinks to high heaven... Unlike hoppes #9. I use that as a car freshener... Not much good as a gun cleaner.. Doesn't remove copper fouling and not great as a gun lubricant, but does smell good...
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

50/50 Hoppes and Kroil. But nothing smells as good as straight Hoppes. Add Hoppes to Prince Albert pipe tobacco and I'd think my dad was nearby.

I like Eliminator and CU2 as well. But I loved the quote above on Hoppes and Prince Albert!

I use Wipeout, but will follow up with a couple patches with Hoppe’s #9 before putting the rifle back in the safe. Come back a few days or weeks later and dry patch it. I seem to recall one of the barrel manufacturers recommending storing rifles with the hoppes in the bore.

Mach3; Good morning sir, I trust the week has been kind to you and this finds you well.
I'll add another vote for Wipe Out as being my current "go to" cleaner.
Usually I'll follow it with Butch's Bore Shine or Ballistol or some wonder spray made in Germany that came with a gun I bought years back.
I do miss the smell of Hoppes though. Was trying to find some paper shot shells to show my daughter how wonderful they smelled too, but I think they both just trigger pleasant memories for me personally is all. Not that they were better than anything else, you know?
All the best to you this Christmas.

I am a Butch's bore Shine fan. I had some Hoppes and Butch's on hand. I was cleaning out a gun that the Butch's was showing blue indicating copper. Switched severl patches to Hoppes until it showed clean. Went back to Butch's, was blue again. So now all I use is Butch's.

I’m amazed at how much fouling Hoppes removes from my barrels. I still use it as an overnight soak.
