Maybe it's my age, but I'm not a huge movie buff. Gotta commit to 2 hours. I like them, just don't often decide to watch a whole one.
My Dad and father in law are the opposite. Movies were huge when they were kids. A movie on TV is like someone habpnding out $100 bill to them. Call it a movie, my dad is watching. I hate to visit anymore, The western channel is turned up to sonic boom level! He watches. Not to see what will happen. But in anticipation of seeing it happen, again. And will tell you "watch him...".
That said, this thread is a reminder of a number of classic movies Not seen. Might have to relearn how to use Netflix in the coming months. Last one I sought out was Full Metal Jacket.
Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!
"Thief" [1981]... I grew up in a salvage yard near chicago in those days... It was glamourized... But the dialog, accent's and attitudes were spot on... so much so that the feds investigated the producers ,directors and cast... Or at least rumor had it ?.. Still makes my hair stand up every time i watch it!...
Excellent. Watching it tonight. Michael Mann movie.
Slaves get what they need. Free men get what they want.

I remember that one. James Caan and Tuesday Weld. I agree, it was damn good.
Casablanca…… No special effects, black and white, no car ( space ship ) chase, etc. just good dialogue and good acting, not to mention Bogart…..
My Dad was in North Africa with the 82nd AB in WW2. When they got to Morocco they went to Casablanca looking for "Rick's Cafe' Americain". They were sure it was a real place. Of course in today's world, somebody would open one up in a week after the movie became a big hit, and declare it authentic.
