Years ago my brother and I rebuilt a motorcyle engine. At the end we had 1 screw left over. It ran ok for a short time then crapped out. Turned out that the screw held down the adjuster plate for the points and they adjusted themselves.

MOFO!!!! That is how it should be done and I always did it that way, especially on large commercial and industrial jobs. Except the electrician missed one part of the job- every wire should have a marking on it telling where it terminates at the other end. The problem is, on small jobs like that one the customer seldom wants to pay for the extra time...
