ya know, I'll bet Mickey is looking down on us all, and missing not being able to log onto the Campfire Here...

I've always had a philosophy I developed working in the Hospital when I was in the Service...

" We all have a beginning and we all have an end... we have no control over either... just everything in between..."

I think of that and think of Mickey... (never met him either, just exchanged PMs with him...).. but I think of my saying/philosophy... Mickey may be gone from us...but I don't cry over it... " just control of everything in between" Mickey done good...real good...

we all should be half as lucky in life....

Here's too ya Mickey...ya may be gone from us, but it'll be a cold day in hell before ya are forgotten by this crowd...

A great truth there, Seafire...

I, too, never met Mickey, but always enjoyed reading his posts. He had lots of wisdom. I learned a lot about him, reading this thread, which just increased my admiration for who he was and what he accomplished in his life.

As do I..He would always PM me about this time of year and ask what veggie varieties I was planning for the upcoming spring gardens then exchange ideas. We are certainly diminished by his sudden passing.

No doubt about it, Mickey loved to work in his garden.

Been a while for me, family issues, saw the memorial and did a search. I am saddened to read this news about Mr. Mickey, he built my 280 AI yrs ago. After many talks I felt like I had a true friend.

I was to have lunch with him in 2010 while I was deer hunting in Greenville , AL but never could work it out, what a mistake.

He will be greatly missed here.

Mickey always struck me as an Andy Griffith kinda fellow. My grandfather and an old gunsmith here that got me started are the same. The word I always came up with to describe them for others was "Genuine".
It's what you notice the first time you meet them. They are the people you want to be around when your life upside down or right side up. They give you nothing but offer you everything. A place to put your feet while your brain catches up.
Never really rattled by the useless stuff we carry. Always happy to chuckle at some tales of woe and offer a dry bit of wisdom to make you laugh at yourself. You just feel better being in their lives which is kinda' backasswards.

Cheers Mickey. Rip.

nice to see this thread this morning....

just going back a page or two, I read posts from Men that I also sure miss that you don't see on the campfire much anymore...

I just hope they have not passed like Mickey...

a lot of good people have come and gone on my 17 years of the campfire...

I am blessed to have been able to know them... some if only just on line... and many in person...

The campfire has been a blessing to experience even if it isn't the same place it use to be...

best people I've ever known, have come from the Campfire...

and since its the season.. Merry Christmas to ALL you bums... some of the best folks in the nation....

My son’s Stiller predator actioned, 21” 7-08 barreled, McSwirly mountain rifle stocked rifle that you built for him when he was 12 yrs old is one of the finest rifles a man could carry. Thank you Mr Coleman. Connor has killed a lot of critters with it and the count increases often. I even get to sneak it out once in a while. RIP sir

I do miss Mickey.. Had a few conversations with him some years ago.. One time he called and asked for my help. He had a M70 in from a customer that he just couldn't get 'right'.. Mickey was nearly 99% a Remington man and asked if I'd take a look.. He shipped it up, (mostly feeding, ejection and a little general functioning issues) I fixed it quickly and sent it back... About two weeks later he gives me a call and relayed how happy the customer was with that rifle...

I was happy to help - Mickey was a very nice gentleman..

It has been seven years since he passed. I always enjoyed reading what he had to say.
