Ill buy one. I have been buying big levers and rugers lately so it hits a niche. Pretty darned good for the homestead.

I've had the wwg trigger. Actually wasn't bad. I have also accidentally pushed the safety on while hiking in bear country. No thank you. I don't like that crossbolt. I'm used to half cock

Not interested in a 45-70 anymore, but would like a '94 in 45 Colt to go with my Blackhawk.

I think it would be functional tool.

ATV, horseback, side by side, snow sled… handy hammer of Thor.

Screw the rail. It's just not right!
As for the threaded barrel, well...screw that too!
Other than that, it looks good. Just wish they'd do a slim line forearm that blended seamlessly with the frame. but i always wished Marlin had done that too.

The forends have a cutout on the inside for the bulge in the magazine tube that allows the 45/70 cartridges to make to corner when you load the magazine. If you slim the forend down to the same profile as the receiver the wood is mighty thin over that cutout.

Not so much a tactical rail as it was for Scout style scopes.

If people don't like the rail just remove it. 2 or 3 screws in the receiver and 1 in the little block that is slid into the dovetail where the rear sight would normally be.

Nice looking guns. My neighbor just bought a rusted up Marlin 336 in 30/30 for $800. I'm not as impressed with the Marlin 336 as I am with my Winchester 94's. I still think the 94's are better over Marlin but hey to each their own. I know a few guys (all the same hillbilly family) that will not shoot nor own a Winchester, they just don't like them 🤷‍♂️

Some of mine have the crossbolt safety. I don't use it when hunting or shooting. Too many years half-cocked. I do like it and use it for unloading.

If they were offered for a reasonable price I’d like one.

I dont understand the hand wringing and bitching. It’s not the only lever they will be producing.

Don’t have any with the safety. My only one is a pre-safety 39A. Since the CF models with the safety still have a half-cock notch, I don’t get all the fuss about them. They’re easily ignored, removed, or disabled with an o-ring. For unloading, or for those with weak hands or perhaps arthritis, having the safety seems like a plus.

Have no plans for any more rifles at this point, but wish them well with this undertaking. They made the right choice by not going cast as so many have opined they would (though I’ll bet rumors about that will persist).

Yeah, I'm aware of that. The bulge is not needed, a straight tube works fine. I have a very early (1972) 1895 that's had an extended magazine tube installed with no bulge. I have seen no issues what so ever.

Isn’t 350 legend the straightwall now?
For those “muzzleloader people that get use a centerfire rifle”

Still can’t wrap my mind around that one but whatever, need meat for the baby and such

I've got an 1895GP in 45-70 ... JM stamped, Guide Gun, Ported ... that is my baby. Give me that, a good knife and my GSD Gertie and I could pretty-much live in the woods the rest of my life, push come to shove. I would probably need a few pounds of powder, a couple of hundred primers and my Lee Loader in 45-70 ... and definitely one or two of my favorite molds. 45-70 brass lasts a lonnnnnnnng time, like Ling Loo love me.

That's not 45-70 brass of course, it's some 270 and some tin bars I use to cast ... but the rifle is a JM Stamped 1895GP in 45-70, one of many JM stamped Marlins that I own. I am interested to see how Ruger does with the brand.

I believe 450 Bushmaster is more of the ballistic equivalent of 45-70 ... 350 Legend notsomuch.

Once you have more JM 45-70's than you have hands to carry them, you might be a redneck.

I've got the 1895GP and the 1895 LTD III in 45-70 and then an 1894 in 444 Marlin ... that's it for the big bores unless you count the 1894P in 44 Mag which is probably my favorite handiest little levergun that I've done more with over the years ... it's a deer and pig killin' machine.

And I've got a bunch of others ... they'll never make JM stamped Marlins again, not ever.
