How many have gone from 308/30-06/270/7-08, etc to 6.5 CM for your big game hunting, then went back to the more traditional calibers?

Full disclosure, no bone to pick here, considering a CM, just wondering how many have stayed with the CM after putting some miles in the game field with it.

I've used the CM for deer and javelina. 129 interbond is a death ray at the ranges I was hunting. But always gravitate back to 280 and 30-30, just because. (Still have a CM; zero issues from me because of who else likes it. If that was the case, 280ai, 300wsm, and 7 mag would also be "hipster" rounds.)

I'm guilty, i like my 6.5 creed for most critters, and my 6.5 Prc, for the bigger critters, but i will never give up my .243's a great all around round. Rio7

Never went to the 6.5 to begin with, so I guess I am still with the rounds that have always worked well.

This. I added several....still use the pre-Creed's as well. I will say that for deer only I use the 6.5 CM more than any of the others. It's a great little round but it doesn't make any of the others less-capable.

Started with a 308 and a 3006. Played with a few others in between such as 243Win, 250savage, 7x57, 7-08, and yes the 6.5 creed. Came back to a .308 as my go to and no longer own/use the others.

I just added. I used a CZ 550 6.5x55 for years, then bought a Howa 6.5 CM to shorten the barrel and thread for my suppressor. Works well.

I've had a couple, but decided 6.5 Grendel killed deer just as dead in a smaller, lighter platform than it's bigger brother. smile

There are tons of used ones listed online for sale here in Canada now.

I wouldn't replace anything I own with one, but OTOH would not sell a good 6.5CM (if I owned one) to buy another midrange deer chambering. They are as good as anything I already own and better in some ways then some.

I came by a Creedmoor via a customer who backed out before his rifle was done. I played with it at mid range targets, 300 to 700 yards, and it was just fine, maybe great, but the difference between it and my old 6.5 Swede bubba target rifle was undetectable on the range. So the Creed is going on the block, mainly for the reason I have a lifetime supply of Swede components, and I wouldn't mind getting my money back on the hi dollar Krieger barrel on the Creed. Creedmoor is a great development, factory load accuracy is great, but has no purpose if you already had the Swedemoor. IMO.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Never went there, as I’ve had it pretty well surrounded with other choices. Also, I’m never been one to believe that the cartridge makes a big difference in hunting success. Good bullets in the right place kill stuff; doesn’t matter much what sticks them there. The only possible thing that might matter is wind deflection, but that’s not an issue around here where ranges are typically short. A few times I saw interesting rifles that happened to be 6.5CMs. One of those might bite me at some point I suppose, if I get bored with what I have.

If something happened to my other stuff, a CM would certainly be considered in the right rifle. If you need a rifle, I think it should be on your list of possibles, along with the 7-08 and even the .308 in SAs.

I'm in the "added" camp. I shot a deer the last two years with a 6.5, but also shot one with a single shot 30-30 this year.

I'm close when I shoot, and a can on a single shot 30-30 is quiet.

I'll have a can on my 44mag single shot by next season, so the 6.5 may be taking a back seat, but not due to performance.

I mainly got the 6.5 for my kids. Liked the tikka so much I kept it and bought them a another one. Smaller and lighter version, Kimber Hunter.
I brought the tikka deer hunting but also my 270 as a back up.

All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.

Rocked the 6.5 Swede since 86, haven't seen the need for a CM even though I do have one in the box, just in case.

I've been using the CM on everything including cow elk now for 3 years. If I end up deciding to hunt Canadian moose in '23 I will take the .30-06.

Bull elk, Shiras moose? I'll use the CM but with bigger, better, bonded or mono bullets. In fact, I'm headed out this morning to test some monos....

I used my 270 win this year. Worked fine. More impressed with the 129 LRX at 3140. Going to run them through a few bears this spring.

Nothing wrong with the 6.5 Creed and 143/147s.

Never switched but added a CM but in full disclosure, I have not hunted with it yet, but do and have hunted with a 260 for many many years long before the CM hit the market

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

In the “added” circle here....
Wanted to try the Kimber Hunter AND the CM cartridge.
Six cow elk and big blacktail bucks with it so far and I see no reason to put it on the shelf.
Good bullets, easy to load for or find good factory fodder and very pleasant to shoot.
It checks a lot of boxes and is the easy button for new shooters.
