6.5 CM 143 ELDX 2030 V 1308 E -44.4 Drop (200 zero)

From Hornady' site

Beyond 500 yards the SD and BC advantages of the 6.5 may gain on the 270.

I can live with that. Seems the 270 is still a bit flatter shooting.

now handload that 143 with some rl26 or super performance and push it @2900-2950 fps at the muzzle and get back to me with your 500 yrd comparison

Seems high BC bullets for the .277 bores are coming into fashion though I don't shoot at game any further than 450 yards ever. If I did I could load similar bullets using those powders in the 270 and get a few more fps but what for?

Rickety,

BC kicks in well inside the 450yd line. Gals who "know" and "do" as "much" as you, will ALWAYS be best served by taking notes and asking questions...rather than giving "answers". Hint.

Maybe for the same reason(s) that we call the 257 Roberts the 257 Bob and the 257 Weatherby the 257 Roy?

If we were consistent, it would be the 257 RB and 257 WTB

Funny post BC is there in the box the bullets came in. The reality is that very little game has to be shot at further than 450 yards away. If you want to you can but you don't have to.

The Creedmoor is a fine cartridge, easy on the shoulder, accurate, kills deer and pigs well.

I started using the 6.5 CM several years back but never stopped using others. I'm fortunate to hunt a 4 month rifle season for deer, generally hunting 2 days a week most weeks, some weeks 3-4 days. I could carry the same rifle every time but I like to use others. This past season was mainly 6.5 CM, .308 Win, and 7-08 Rem in the rotation. Can't say I've come back from anything...never left the others, just added the 6.5 CM.

I do think the 6.5 CM is nearing "perfection" for a deer round, but it's not like others are any less effective.

This. That said I would never use the Creed on elk. I have much better suited chamberings for that task.

I’ve got way too much ammunition for the creedmoor to ever leave it. I enjoy other cartridges , but the creed is here to stay in my armory at least.

Mine too man. It's an excellent cartridge. I doubt I'll ever be without one:

I compare a lot of cartridges to the 6.5 creedmoor and most can't hang:

Some are close. But not better. The creedmire was done right. Guys that have never tried one, will never get it.

I bought a 6.5 CM a couple of years ago, was kinda neutral with it and sold it off to fund another project. After building a DIY 308, I decided to do the same in 6.5 CM and the rifle really turned out well although I have not shot anything with it yet but I am confident it will work fine if I do my part!

Come on, you guys probably drink Oly's or Bush light..
Busch light is way better than Old Milwaukee and don't you forget it!

😂🤣

I had a Creedmoor, shot really well but was marginal on game in my experience. For paper punching
or shooting steel at long range it’s great. I prefer the more traditional stuff.

Old Milwaukee is scarce around here, Pabst Blue Ribbon is making a huge comeback especially among the younger generation, and I’ve always liked it as well. Don’t know how it got the redneck stigma attached to it. Oh well to each his own….. 😁

i own a couple of 6.5 Creedmoor rifles yes they are accurate but never hunted with a 6.5 Creedmoor never seen why i would ? i have 257 Weatherby Mags. its a lot faster ,has as good as ballistics with the right bullet , shoots flatter out to 500 yards and hits a animal hard. would be hard for me to use less rifle when hunting yet . but in the future when with my young grandson i will use a 257 Roberts and the 257 Roberts is grand old cartridge that will do basically what a over rated 6.5 Creedmoor can do. i have been using my 257 Weatherby mags. over 30 years last 20 years with a Ruger #1 so i can`t give up on the 257 Weatherby mag. cartridge that works so well for me on game and even at longer distances.
